Okay I bought this SVX initially as a parts car but later decided I dont want another SVX parted out to non-existance. The guy I bought it from owns a towing company and is a prick, becuase he wont give me paperwork (besides a near worthless to DMV bill of sale) for it unless i give him another $250 then i still have to pay taxes and tags wich comes out to another $100. Its been sitting since a minimum of 2 years. It is a virginia car vin # jf1cx3453rk101637 Red FWD 1994. Does anyone know the person who owned this car? or what else can I do:confused:

That looks like too nice of a car to part out! Why does he want more $$ to get paperwork, doesnt that come with the car? Maybe someone at the DMV will tell you who owned it last.

The DMV is not allowed to tell you who owned the car because of privacy laws.

If the towing company lost the title it should only cost him about $20 to get a duplicate title.
Since you have a reciept for the car it seems like the DMV could put pressure on him to produce the title.

I also have a SVX too nice to part out and can not get the title.

What the Maryland MVA told me to do was to give it to a salvage yard, so that they could get a salvage certificate to give it back to me!
A salvage certificate cuts the value in half at least!
I have had the car for a year almost and would love to fix it up and drive it now that my favorite SVX was sold and flipped.:(

I know it was a previous or current members car becuase he had the svx world network decals in the window. will the junkyard thing work..hmm ill have to investigate..as far as damage goes the worst of it is on the rad core support and ive alredy pulled that out and adjusted the hoodlatch. i also replaced the bumpers and rockers with good silver parts...so its almost 2 tone with a silver hood too.

oh he never lost the title he just never spent the money initially to get it.

Carfax may give a clue as to where it was previously registered. That will narrow down the previous owner.

But they don't give names or addresses.:(

Call the PoPo. You have a bill of sale saying you bought the car and now he's refusing to give you the title unless you give him more money. If you play the situation right, that gets him an exstortion charge.

Im to passive to do that. It was kinda the deal we made he sold it to me as a parts car with no real paper work. but now he just wants to shaft me:(

Go to your DMV

Go see your DMV and bring along with you your Bill of Sale. Explain the situation to them. In this jurisdiction there is regulatory authority for the Motor Vehicle Registry to issue a new title for a vehicle provided that you can establish a chain of ownership that stops with you. Usually that is done by way of a Statutory Declaration (similar to an Affidavit). I would suspect that your jurisdiction has similar authority.

Good luck

If you know what city the car came from, mabey you could call the local subaru dealer to find out who owns it. Did you find any service records inside it? Change the title of the thread to attn: VA SVX owners.

SomethingElse 10-20-2006 06:06 PM

No service records. I dont know the city. There was a ton of clothes and pictures but nothing that could establish identification. Tomorrow is her birthday so I dont know about DMV any time soon, but I was on there website and it looks like my only options are abandon vehicle title but I think that means the title holder can take the car back....I dunno..

Don't give up just yet. Find out who sells svx network stickers and see if they sent some to VA. Mabey they will remember who it was. Ask Chike he, being a virginian may recognize who's it is. That is way to nice of an SVX to not be resurrected.
