This makes three...

Cool! This is the third mag to rate the SVX a "Future Classic" "Collectible Automobile" did in 1997 and "Classic and Sports Car" from the UK did way back in '94. Not to mention Dan Neal's (auto writer for the L.A. Times) comment in his recent Tribeca road test that he considers the SVX the "most restoration-worthy of recent Japanese cars."

Maybe the SVX will be as revered as the Toyota 2000GT someday (hey, I can dream!)

I like the portion of the article which is asking the question of how subaru traditionalists will view such a departure as the B9 Tribeca. It says:

"Did I see the matinee? In the 1990s, Subaru tried to transcend its niche-product status to contend against Lexus and Infiniti. In due course it produced the Subaru SVX (1992-97), a 230-hp, six-cylinder, all-wheel-drive premium sports coupe designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and beautifully so.

The SVX - which I consider one of the most restoration-worthy of all recent Asian cars - just didn't vibe with Subie-heads, though, and vice versa. Where, they wondered, do you put the kayak?"

Must go buy... Must go buy... Must go buy...

I've gotten Classic Motorsports (former british car mag since about 89). Every time they send a survey out about what you want to see I ask for the "modern" classics that people can see, drive and actually afford. They just keep putting in Euro trash like the 5 series and XJs. If it was a 6 series I'd understand but they just don't seem to realize that kids don't go for Euro cars now and the future is what the kids of today find as what they'd want for their first car. Why do you think the baby boomers are paying $50k for a nice 65 Stang and the like?
