Another new SVX'er

A couple of weeks ago I finally found the SVX I have always wanted. Actually any SVX is what I wanted but are hard to find in West Central Florida. I am now the proud owner of a 1995 Polo Green, LSi w/72K miles. She has only been in the state of Florida all her life. Replaced the ps pump already and have upgraded the stereo to work with my Sirius receiver, also added a Subaru factory (Legacy) subwoofer. So far so good. Sold my 93 Legacy Wagon for $1450.00 on eBay offseting the $2000.00 I spent on the SVX. Methinks I made out like a bandit. A set of Fulda Carat Extremos are next later this week. Already changed the tranny fluid, will do again this weekend. Someone here suggested brasso for cleaning the headlight lenses, kudo's !! It really worked great.

Thanks for the kind comment. She is pretty awesome, blew off an unsuspecting M3 on Sunday, he was a bit shocked to say the least. He had been following to get a better look, I turned right onto a main drag and floored it just as I was making the right turn, AWD kicks in and off like a banshee. He eventually caught me me as I slowed down, gave me the thumbs up as he went by, at least it looked like a thumb. I did not realise it was an M3 till he passed by, a grin came over me. Felt like I was in high school all over again, though that was a VERY long time ago.

Great looking car. (aren't they all?) :D sorry! :) Welcome to the site and many miles of trouble free driving. ;)

Thanks again for all the kind comments. Yup, the first one I saw was back 91 at the LA Auto Show, sat in her and was hooked. After a couple of years now looking and losing out on the bidding on eBay I got lucky, guess it was meant to be. The way I see it, I think of her as a Lambo or Porsche which means that things will break and will cost a bit of money to fix, but when she is right, you cannot touch her at any price. Only $2K, so I figure whatever I spend to fix her is still worth it.

With that attitude, you will have a very long love affair! ;) :) :)

Let me be the first to tell you....your rear wheels are on backwards.

fl_svx 04-12-2005 07:28 PM

Thanks, yes I knew that, the only solution is to buy all new tires and get them sorted out that way. :D

Ron Mummert 04-12-2005 07:34 PM

May I be the first to mention that your front wheel is mounted in the correct position. Now that's out of the way....Welcome to the circus.

You're not alone in Sarasota. I was shunning winter a few weeks ago with friends who were vacationing in Osprey. Whilest cruising about Casey Key gazing upon the wealth on stilts, I spotted a red '94-'96? turning onto the key from a drawbridge spanning the intracoastal waterway. I waved my SVX cap at him, but was ignored, as I was traveling in a Toyota at the time.

Ron.

Ah, Casey Key...yup I head down there every once in awhile on the way to Wally World in Venice (we are not allowed to have Supercenters in Sarasota, will draw the wrong element, regular people). There's a little seafood restuarant I go to. Sarasota is so full of snooty people, makes me sick. I am a native Floridian and hate what has happened here. So if I can ambush a few unsuspecting Beemers or ????? I feel a little better. Yes, the first thing I noticed at the Acura dealership in Ft. Myers were the wheels, but the tires were heading in the right direction, so NEW TIRES!!! I am not surprised, anyone who knows Florida would not be surprised that the wheels would be backward.

New Tires?

If the rear tires are good---why not just have them remounted to correct the reversed wheels?

Well as for the tires, there are two different brands of tires on the rear, which is a no-no as far as I am concerned, especially with ABS and AWD (different rotation rates). My standard practice whenever I buy a used car is to change the fluids, install a new stereo, new tires, plugs and wires, belts, etc. The reason why for me is knowing where I stand as far as maintenance is concerned. I can spend $60 to have the tires removed, remounted and rebalanced, but it makes more sense to spend $460 OTD for 4 new Fulda's.

Asap

If the tires are different with different wear rates you need to change them ASAP before you risk blowing your tranny. Of course, I am sure you know that about an AWD vehicle.
