A/C and Clock are dead!

My Climate control was working fine, but suddenly clicked off. The clock did the same thing, and the climate buttons are unresponsive. I checked the fuses and all seem to be OK. Any ideas what could be wrong? Seems to have lost power just in that area. Radio and all other electrical things still work.

Did they go at the same time (as close as you can tell)? Assuming they did, seems like an electrical fuse gremlin to me.

How did you check the fuses? Did you check the fuses under the hood, and at the driver's kick panel? Some of the fuses (and I don't remember which) on the SVX are multiplexed, i.e., for a whole system to work several fuses have to be checked. The best way to check I know is to pull the fuse, visually inspect it, then test across the legs with a VOM.

It's been a while since I saw anyone mention it, but the visor shorting out seems to do weird electrical things. Do the vanity lights work on the visors (I think it was mainly a passenger side thing)? If not, then pull the visor and unplug it. May do a search for visor and see what people said (besides the floppy visor issue).

I actually ended up taking into the dealer before I got your response. The dealer said it was a short behind the dashboard, and the clock stopped working because of the fuse that blew because of the short. They fixed it for 88 dollars...not too bad, could've been worse!

HMMMMM this EXACT same thing happened to me today..i blame a crappy cigarette light socket that comes apart in my hands... can anyone elaborate where this hidden fuse behind the dash might be? (i was trying to unplug a cell phone car charger... and then AC and clock dont' work... stereo, lights, everything else does, just not the Ac and clock
sounds very similarl, i've just never heard of another fuse box... please educate me)

Greg, I think he is saying a short behind the dash caused a fuse to blow. Not that there is a fuse behind the dash. Just start checking fuses, you're bound to find a busted one. If I had time I would look at a manual. I'll look tonight if you still haven't gotten it.

lovely. He changed out 2x10 cents fuses and charged you 88 bucks.

You should have checked the fuse boxes (both inside and outside). The clock is in th kickpanel. The interior lights/ac is under the hood.

I did check the fuses. When i replaced it, it blew again. They found a wire short somewhere they had to fix.
