2011 Event Schedule
 

I bring this up every couple of years or so, but like I said on Saturday, every couple of years or so our group changes. :)

With the 9th Fall Colors Tour successfully a wrap, we drift into the holidays and before you know it, we'll be well into 2011. :eek:

So I'm curious what our currently active group would like to see in the coming year.

Looking back over the last 2 or 3 years, this seems to be the structure we have fallen into:

May or June - A driving tour in southern Washington or Northern Oregon put together by the folks in that area.

First weekend of August - The Dabob Seafood Fest, a weekend long social event in northwestern Washington put on by Earl at his cabin.

October or November - The Fall Colors driving tour in the Puget Sound area put together by folks in that area.

And that's been it. A early summer drive, a mid-summer social, and then a fall drive. And it seems to be working well for everyone, and admittedly sometimes the time between them flies by, at least when you are the one doing the preparing.

But in the past, 5 or 6 years ago, we used to have 7 or 8 events a year. Additional driving tours in the spring and summer, a maintenance/tech meet at Earl's house, an awards banquet/car show in the middle of winter, etc. Some years we even had additional smaller "unofficial" meets where small groups would get together for dinner on a Friday night.


So just curious what the current group feels is good for 2011. Are 3 events in 2011 not enough? Or would additional events "dillute" things too much and spread attendence out so that any one event isn't well attended? Or is that not even an issue?

I think at this point it is a given that the 3 events mentioned will all take place in 2011, at the given timeframes. But anything else is up for debate.

Please post thoughts and opinions here. Looking forward to seeing some feedback!

Hi guys,
A spring drive is nice, especially after a cold winter. Last spring was kinda wet, so that could have been a deterrent to attendance. The maintenance meet at Earl's was always a great way to have a meet and address some of the nigglies that we just never seem to tend to. Looking at all of his cars, especially the museum quality ones was just an extra plus (so that's what our cars are supposed to look like).
Saying all this, We've missed a few, or have shown up SVXless. But hey, just put down some Benjamins on some sorely overdue TLC on the trusty steed so you can count us in for whatever, whenever, wherever.

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I used to love the "Spring Classic" we ran for 3 or 4 years around April. It was nice to get out and drive after taking a few months off during the winter.

The last few years time just seems to fly by and before you know it summer is here. I've been glad you Couve guys have been taking up the slack and providing us with something to do around that early summer timeframe. :)

And you're right, if I HAD managed to put a spring drive together last year, it likely wouldn't have just been in a downpour anyways. :rolleyes:

Well I know you guys are willing and eager - how about anyone else? Thoughts?

I guess you do have more flexibility these days with the dates. I like it about where it is, kind of right in the middle of summer and in between the two driving tours. And equally spaced between the 4th of July and Labor Day as well so less conflicts there. I guess it could be up for choice between 2 or 3 weekends in that span though if it helped others out.

I've never been to one before but the idea of a maintenance meet sounds appealing to me.

I like the fixit meets - we seem to get a good turnout for those (especially if you count all of earls) :)
