fuel door does not pop open
Has anybody had a problem with the fuel door not popping open when the fuel door release level is pulled? I used some WD-40 to lube the door thinking that may have been the problem, but it wasn't.
I am currently using a Swiss Army knife to keep the fuel door release level in the "up" position. I can then just get my finger nails underneath the fuel door and open it by hand. Is there a spring or something that might have fallen out? Thanks, Matt 95 SVX L |
There is a little strip of sheet steel that mounts on the door between the ribs of the hinge. Either it needs to be bent more for more spring tension or......... it isn't there. It has its own bolt for attachment to the fuel door.

What does this little piece look like? Is there a way to make it pop if you don't have one
or if I were to buy one... Where and how much? |
Re: fuel door does not pop open
Happened to my 91 sport sedan . Go to the Subaru dealer and buy one. Got to be pretty cheap, my parts man gave me one for free

Part 57651PA010. I paid $3.17 at subaruparts.com.
However, my problem is, what stops the fuel door from hitting the side of the fender when open? Gene |
