Knock Sensor replacement help

CEL throws a LH Knock senor code. I've have new sensor on the way but in looking to see where the sensor is located, it looks like a ***** to change with the intake in place.
Before I spend hours trying to get it out and then removing the intake, does anyone know if the intake has to come off?
Thanks

Remove the alternator. That will allow you to get to it. Maybe unbolt the ac compressor from the bracket, but leave the lines intact. If you want help I live in Lynnwood and am more than willing to lend a hand.

Thanks Cam. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I never thought about removing the alternator. I was looking at weaving a socket down through the top of the intake.
Nice to know there is another SVX owner in the area.
I'm new to the SVX world. Bought a car w/ a bad trnasmission (I know that is a rarity) and have been going through it replacing and fixing things. Thought I was ready for DEQ and the CEL came on. Hopefully this is the last thing for now.

Re: Knock Sensor replacement help

Hello there all just wanted to share my knock sensor replacement story with y'all, all went well thanks to info found here, no I did not remove the intake just the alt and ac comp, I have small hands. To get the left side unplugged I felt like a surgeon, I used a peice of hanger as a holding tool for the wire harness, another piece of hanger to hold the connector and hemostat to unplug, shot the plug with WD40. WOW patience tester alert. After that all went well, I would say to anyone that does this to ty a peice of wire/string to the OLD ksensor so you can drag it out and ty up the new one and drag it back in there. Once you get going all this will acualy make more sence. So no more cel and on to more fun things like wheel bearing pounding, err I mean fenessing........................................G
