Any metal roofer types out there
 

I'm just finishing up building a nice 10X14 wooden shed. It has a simple shed roof.

I'd like to put on a galvanized metal roof, but can't figure out what to do at the upper edge and sides to keep wind driven water from getting under the edge. The lower edge I just assume regular drip edge (but I still wonder about water getting driven in by rain. I was planning to put on 5V crimp panels.

I can't find anyplace on the web that deals clearly with the edge fastening for metal roofs. The local Home Depot sells a bunch of stuff (drip edge, a J-chanel, z-flashing, and a large L shaped piece) but whenever I go there nobody knows what I need to make this work. :(

they are 24 inches wide when the outer Vs overlap from one panel to the next. The Vs are a bit less than an inch in height.

so I'm wondering what I do at the top of the shed roof when water could get in the upside down Vs, and what do I do at the sides (eaves/rakes) to keep the wind from lifting & ripping.

My eldest son is the program manager for a medium sized roofing comoany here in Sac, and they install a lot of rubber membrane type roofing. You may want to look into that as an underlay for your galvanized cover. Just a suggestion. If you like I'll ask him for a manufacturer's name.

Thanks Glenn, but I already put on some stuff called Rooftop Guard II. It's pretty tough for an underlayment - I know of a couple of cases where it was put on after Hurricane Francis and survived Hurricane Jeanne intact (final roof not on until post-Jeanne).

BTW, I just came back from Home Depot and they finally had someone on the floor who knew something...guess I've answered my own question - the solution is to install gable flashing on 3 sides, regular drip on the low edge, and use a closed cell foam under the Vs at the ends (they sell the foam pre-cut/shaped, but of course don't stock it - gotta special order).
