A sad day - my beautiful, unique SVX up for sale

Yep, it's true. I think the time may have finally come to part ways with my favorite vehicle of all time. As some of you may have seen in the Tech Q & A Forum, I just got her out of the shop, and now that she's running well again, the time just seems right to test the selling market.

I have a couple of questions to pose to the group:

- What's a fair price? Kelley Blue Book says somewhere around $5800, but I've added SO much to the car over the years. I'd expect to get quite a bit more, but how much is fair?

Basics: 1994 LSi AWD, 126K mi, Laguna blue, interior and exterior in excellent condition, personally maintained and mechanically sound, Toyo tires with low-moderate wear.

Extras: A Pioneer double DIN stereo w/ CD, tape, spectrum display, and 6 Pioneer speakers, a DEI Viper security system, new 17" Axis 7-spoke wheels, my own custom fender-well cone intake, an original Kinetic Concepts cat-back exhaust, c/f hood w/ scoop and Steve's custom front bumper, both newly painted to match, PIAA low beams, PIAA fogs, and PIAA driving lights in the bumper openings, a Small Car Performance 5-speed tranny with an awesome clutch, custom heavy duty 1-4 gears and a high-ratio .70 5th, koni struts paired with the K&B springs Dayle ordered from Japan, and even a seldom-used but very fun NX wet nitrous system triggered through both the pedal and a shiny button on the shift knob. (There's probably more that I'm forgetting, but you get the idea.)

- How should I sell it? AutoTrader? Ebay? I'm also open to bids right from the forum if someone wants to make me an offer (dorian7@attglobal.net, or just reply to the thread).

She's truly an amazing vehicle, one of a kind. I really hate the thought of parting with her, but, as they say, all good things must come to an end . . .

I so wish I could buy her from you. But I don't even have the bluebook cash, let alone what she's really worth. :(
And a blue would look so pretty next to my copper.

Where in KC are you? I'm originally from there.

Dorian, I followed your tech Q & A thread & I can only assume you've reached the point that's telling you, "Now that I've got her back in action, I'd BETTER hang out the fer sale sign, because if I don't do it now, something else will break & the car will be worth zero again, & this love-hate thing with this car is driving me stark raving mad".

With the mods you've done to the car I'd say Blue-Book is irrelevant.
Hang out the "FOR SALE" shingle. Take it to the drag strip of your choice. Push the nitrous button & mow down some rice. Let the wide-eyed kids go home & beg daddy for 10K to buy this Honda killer.

Or.....come to your senses, man, & keep her!

Ron.

With the SVX, there are only 2 stages. For sale and for keeps.

For sale: You just bought the car, you did not fix it and you have done no mods and you now found out that the SVX is not for you

For keeping: You bought the car, you love it but it is a love hate relationship (so is your wife and girlfriend -- admit it), you did upgrades on the car.

nuf said.

Dorian,

She is most definitely a one of a kind beauty. I'm sorry to hear that you must part ways with her. Make sure that you find a good owner for her. If you weren't pressing for cash, I would recommend keeping her.

How much are you looking for. Maybe I can find a way to purchase her. I know I can't get 10k and I know kelley's full of poop. Throw out a figure and I'll see if I can work with it.

ROAD TRIP

Dorian

I will PM you for the details. If it sounds good, maybe I can swing it. I have been looking for a nice blue one. I am interested! :)
Harry, I am not trying to cut in here, but I am interested if you are not. I would give it a very good covered home and not tear it to pieces. :)

Thanks

Harry

Read above! I was editing the post and when I got it back on, I saw the other responces. I am not trying to cut you off. You posted first, and if you don't end up with her, I may get a chance.

Thanks :)

re: i'm just kidding earl

earl, i'm just kidding. i wouldn't mind having another, but if you want it, go for it :D. rather someone on this board own it, then letting someone tear it up or putting it in a junk yard :D. you know that's what those ricers will do to it since it has 'naws'. for me it's no biggie, i'm sure there will be more opportunities for other svx's for sale. i saw 4 ads in autotrader for svx's. :D

i'm one of those 'free spirits' that never gets offended :D. i just like to keep smile's on everyone's faces :D

hmm.... i believe there is a word for that ..... clown ...yikes i'm a clown. oh well at least i have good taste :D

MNYPNNY 02-05-2003 10:28 PM

now Earl.....

it's not fair for you to have the monopoly on SVXes!!!!!
I want this car really bad, but I still owe on Penny.
How many SVXes do you really think you can support?

LOL

I would probably sell one of the 93s or the 92. I don't think I want more than 3. I would not be able to keep them under cover and protected from the elements if I had more than that. I just thought a red, white and blue one would be fun. "Earl places his hand over his heart" :D :)

Harry, I wondered why you had that big red nose and the floppy shoes! :D

I feel like the kid that goes to the store and comes back every time with a cat or dog that they are giving away there. Well, not exactly. I would not want that car to be hacked apart either. As long as it goes to a good home. I will see what I can do. It sounds like a great car. Thanks Harry.
