Headed to teh track today

My second appearance at Firebird Dragway comes today. I plan on racing it a lot differently this time. No gas and a basic tear down. I'll be sure to let you all know how she runs. The last time out I had a full tank of Petrol and a fattie in the seat next to me. My girlfriend really isn't fat at all, just a running joke. I'm gunning for a low 16. My old car ran 16.577 on empty and my new car ran 16.519 on full.

Also, new pics of my new car are in my locker.

Oh... One More Thing

good luck ;)

i have noticed, the less gas you have, the slower you go. i think the car struggles to pull out gas when its so low. I have run better times with more gas in the tank, so i would use about half a tank or so.

HighwayUFO 06-19-2005 12:55 PM

Well, I am proud to announce that I have run my fastest time ever. I pulled out everything that was in the trunk, and did the run with five gallons of petrol in the tank. Just for the record, five gallons left in the tank will put you on the empty line in most cases. Also for the record, filling up the tank from that point cost me $31. Sorry to keep you all in suspense about the time that I ran.

My run previous to my fastest was 16.4. I pulled my hood off and lifted my cold air cone to a resting position on top of the ABS module and ran a time of 16.040:D:D:D. I would have gotten in one more run but some hazardous substance had spilled on the track and was not able to get in my last run. I am supremely confident that I would have broken the 15 second barrier had the track not needed a half hours worth of clean up attention. Next time out, I hope to break into the 15's.

with no hood?? well its a good time, but will it tell you what yu will run on the street?

Tom

With the hood on i should run about 2 tenths slower, given the same conditions

SVXRide 06-19-2005 02:09 PM

what was your trap speed? I'm guessing somewhere around 80 mph??

Chiketkd 06-19-2005 04:14 PM

What was the temperature out there?

-Chike

HighwayUFO 06-20-2005 03:25 AM

My trap speed was 86.38 mph. My R/T on this run was .010 on a .500 tree. The temp was somewhere in the mid 60's on this run with clear skies and little humidity, like 38%. Any other questions can be answered tomorrow. I just got off work and I have to be up at 9:00 in the morning. Sorry if I couldn't answer all your questions.

Keith

P.S. My R/T's are very consistent, with a personal best of .009 and a self proclaimed "five steps away from being a drag racing GOD" R/T of -.005.

SVXRide 06-20-2005 11:17 AM

86+ trap speed and only a 16.04 ET? Sounds like you had a little tire spins somewhere along the way....

I forgot to mention the altitude. The track is about a half mile up from sea level.
