Will they fit? 18x8 40mm offset
Throwing out a quick question as I have a short term opportunity to jump on some 18x8 wheels with 40mm offset.
I know the offset is on the low side but is there some calculation where the wider width might offset some of the ill effect? Overall how does width and offset effect placement? Would these specs stick out more or less than stock? Thanks for the help! |
Re: Will they fit? 18x8 40mm offset
these wheels will stick out more and will fit
the increase in width is 12.5mm overall so thats 6.25mm added to each side of the rim plus the 15mm difference in offset means the wheel will move a total of 21.25mm further out towards the guard |

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense. :)

Re: Will they fit? 18x8 40mm offset
There is only one real worry to watch out for, if you have old weak springs and struts you may have some rubbing of the tire on the inner fender lining, the back is where I had the most trouble, when I had both my kids and some luggage in the car the rear would rub when turning corners, that was with a 18x8 34 offset wheel though.
I replaced the rear sway bar with a bonager bar and that eliminated almost all rubbing, then I put the custom coil overs on and have not had any trouble since. my struts were shot. I was using motor sport warehouse lowering springs. |
