Greatly expanded suspension aftermarket?
Talking about struts with someone then I did a random search on Altavista.
http://forums.probetalk.com/printthr...p?t=1701159979 "It seems like Probe struts fit the Subaru SVX. I know this becase I talked to a guy that autox's and he said he bought his illuminas for a probe and just installed them on his subaru. just a little info...so I guess 99-05 Protege, PGT, and Subaru SVX struts are interchangable." Please tell me someone can verify this. --- Mazdaspeed Spring F 280 lb/in R 190.4 lb/in Hmm... |
How bout this:
"Front shocks on the Subaru SVX are dimensionally identical to the struts on the Impreza/Legacy. I did not check with a caliper, but the only difference I could tell between the struts was the metal tabs and such welded onto the base strut unit for brake lines/sway bars, etc." http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55636 |
I have 2nd gen probe Tokico Illuminas in the box in my garage right now waiting to be installed on my 95 PGT. If someone has some svx struts laying around, maybe we could compare measurements to see if theyre even close. As for coilovers or springs No way it would work...the SVX is way heavier than the probe.

Customizing is out of the question. This guy claimed Toxico Illuminas bolted right up to his SVX, or the Probe guy interpreted it that way, and these struts are looking pretty sweet for a good price.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKIC...56186847QQrdZ1 Triumph, you don't have an SVX lieing around to test them on ? :D |

Whoo hoo! Timeframe?
|
What are the spring rates that the Tokicos are good for?

Quote:
"Front = 185 lb/in Linear Rear = 155 lb/in Progressive He said they were "slightly progressive", and the numbers were “averages”?" My guess is the Probe would be more? Triumph should know. Everywhere I look though the Konis are being favored as a brand. :/ |
fits or not, if they arent valved for the weight
of the vehicle, you wont get the proper compression and rebound rates expected for the heavier Svx. |

BUT, I'm starting to wonder if I would get the SVX Konis anyways just because they are better and specifically designed. In any case we are always looking for swappable parts and the info is invaluable. |

Actually if you guys are considering picking any up may I suggest http://www.probegarage.net ? I've bought the same suspension from this guy last year for my MX6 and his service is outstanding. Nice suspension too, but I'd be weary of it on an SVX. It might be possible though. |
No Impreza struts don't fit without work. The SVX hub where the strut attaches is wider then the legacy/impreza. That said you can get the springs to fit if you wanna be lower than low up front and higher than high in the rear. Good luck trying to get the swaybar mounted up front.

Well I havent heard anything about those struts yet so I measured my own. Heres the front one:

I did not bother with the rears, they werent even close. On a better note the custom aluminum radiator I have been working on is almost finished  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...lanine/rad.jpg |
Nice research Triumph.
The radiator looks nice and comfortable in there. Is that an oil cooler on the front. if so that is bad ass. I want one. Steve |
