Second hand pricing

Goodness...I realise it's in good condition, but this is pushing it. I think it's at the Toy Shop in Sydney, which has some rather fine cars, but I think they are missing it on this one.

holy crap man! Yeah that is a lot of money.
58,000mi on it.. that is 2900mi a year ... not even enough for an oil change .. it must have sat for YEARS.

On a dealer lot near me for comparison (lowest mileage I seen come by in a while):
1997 Subaru SVX LSi AWD 94,676miles - $5,488
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/in...d&cardist=5332

Same dealer has one these:
1986 Porsche 944 S - 89,676miles - $3,988
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/in...C&cardist=5332

We were looking for a under $5,000 used SUV for my cousin when I came across these yesterday...
(we ended ended buying him a 2005 jeep liberty from another dealer)

Edit:
I just noticed this was in the down under section, damn new post button got me.
I have no idea what svx goes for in Australia.

Bahahaha! You Yanks crack me up!! What do you think your exchange rate is? Lol. News Flash - the US dollar is worth the same or LESS than the Australian dollar. So, $14,995 would cost an AMERICAN about $15,300 US.

Well I paid $16,000NZD (New Zealand) for my 92 Pearl that, at the time, had 41,000Kms on the clock. Roughly 25,500mi...

She's been a bit of a garage queen for the last year since I bought a 2004 Legacy R30. Odometer currently @ ~60,000Km or 37,300mi :)

Had a look at it today - nice car but for the price!!! Sunroof needs as push up before it slides.....Seems like the main interest in it has been from us SVXs! Two owners and in a private collection last few years......thus the low kms.

That's funny. I had a chuckle about that with the sales guy back when I had a look, as he admitted only one other person had taken a look... and I said "was that Jason by any chance?" because I'd read his post here just a few days earlier. I made sure he knew that the only people likely to take an interest are also already talking about it and sharing notes. :D

Re: Second hand pricing

By the way, what does someone think it's worth?

It needs a lot of work before you'd trust it (lots of brittle hoses to begin with), but I have to admit it's in very good condition, and it appears to be complete.

I know Classic Throttle Shop get a commission (they don't own it), but for that they also offer to store it for 2 months for no extra charge (handy for me since I've got absolutely no space left).

Not sure how all that balances out.

The sales guy told me they did a 3 car deal/swap (bought 3 and sold 3) with a guy from Newcastle) and that it owes them 13K. However he said they will listen to an offer. I think I'll have to do some cosmetic work on mine to bring it up to that condition - had mine since new!!!

Holy crap that is a lot of money. But, someone who does not know better will end up buying it I guess. Hopefully they have a nice bank safe to break into! I will give them $7k.......
