When I had the Shadow Machine, I figured I'd sign up with the Hydra forum for support. It took over a month of practically begging the admin to approve my account. It's no wonder that they didn't like dealing with new accounts; they got around 30 per day from all over the world.

As for making this a pay site: I pitched in annually, and I didn't mind at all - the returns in the knowledge and parts availability alone were worth it. For a privately run site to not be swimming in advertisements, it's not a lot to ask! The question that stands, though, is whether this would solve this problem?

I am still seeing a lot of spam people registering on the forum. Did the mods add a captcha or something to the registration process?

I just checked and there are 525 new people/spam/etc. It is an overwhelming task to go through them and weed out the junk. We need to figure out something. :(

We are in the process of figuring out something. I don't want to say much for obvious reasons, but the problem will be sorted and as soon as possible.

Can you guys do something like this

This is my online banking system, I put my username, then my password I literally type on an Electronic keyboard using the mouse. I don't think spam bots can register as such.

uses a registration signup filter where you need to answer a question after watching a short video.

Thanks Super. Looks good.

The Camry people are using a newer version of the software than we are.

Theirs is 3.8.7, ours is 3.6.8. If the changes we are making do not do the business then we may be forced to change to newer software. This will probably cost money, but hopefully we may not need to go to that trouble.

PS: New applications for membership are temporarily suspended until we have purged the rubbish and strengthened the system. Hopefully back to normal in a day or two.

We are going to get the new software installed in the very near future. It should have some additional safe guards in it.

I'll contact you tonight about clearing some of the backlog.

It's not easy or sometimes impossible to see what applicants are genuine and which ones are spammers. Hence we need a response from applicants before we can approve them.

When that's in place we should have a lot less problems and delays. Apologies to any people held up in the queue.
