top hat replacement?

What other top hats will work with the SVX?

STi, impreza, legacy, forester?

None, as far as I know. I've pulled Impreza and Forester struts to compare and neither matches. Legacy/Outback I wouldn't bet on.

what doesn't match?

is it the bolt pattern or the hole in the center of the strut tower?

Both. The SVX bolt pattern is an isosceles triangle (two lengths the same, the third shorter), and the Impreza is an equilateral (all three equal distance apart). The center hole is quite a bit larger on the Impreza than the SVX.
