Shoulda had a case on that phone! Hopefully it wasn't one of those new iPhones!

Turn it off, leave it off for 24+ hours (with the battery out) to let it dry. Try to turn it back on.

Your data will most likely be on the SIM card, and that *should* be recoverable.

Under normal circumstances, i'd say that's likely. However with salt water, the probability of it returning to fully functional is highly unlikely. Salt will erode at the electrical connections very forcefully. Still, worth a try though.

Not that I know of. I know you cant take any card out and put it in a phone and use it. When you get a new phone you have to enter all the data in yourself....or now you can pay them to do it for you.

JaySVX 08-24-2007 11:35 AM

Verizon has an option called vsync or something like that, for $1 a month or so, it will upload all information from your phone to verizon, contacts, stored data, etc. If you get a new phone, you can download it back.

If you're going to put any effort into recovering a phone dropped in salt water, the first step is to pull the battery and thoroughly flush it in fresh water.

But yeah, it's toast...

TomsSVX 08-24-2007 03:59 PM

gonna take it apart soon...again... clean as much of it as I can with some alchohol and hope for the best... otherwise I have begun entering all my new #'s as they come... I have the new phone so u can just call me now and I will get the #

hey before you throw away that phone you dropped, (if it doesnt work after u clean it)

sell it on ebay. I *just* sold my verizon phone (newer-ish model) for a good $15 (after the shipping, fees, etc) even though my bud had spilt some Everclear on it, and it stopped working.

ensteele 08-24-2007 04:54 PM

Note to self: Don't buy any phone on ebay. :o

JaySVX 08-24-2007 05:13 PM

I bought my phone on ebay... but only because the phone i needed for work was $600, i paid $200, no problems :)

stallion 08-24-2007 05:49 PM

No no dont get me wrong. I CLEARLY stated what happened, and that the phone was non-operational. People buy phones real cheap off ebay, then fix em, then sell em for even better profit.
