Your car just became victim of my jealousy! I have wanted an 8 series since I knew what BMW was! Congrats man! Hope you enjoy it!

Congrats... awesome cars. I'd love to get my hands on something like that or an older M6.

Bye 20MPG, hello 12MPG :p

That's a smokin car though. It looks so clean, must have cost you many a pretty penny.

I saw a white one last year and had no idea what it was.

Sweet lookin beast.

how much did it cost you?

berger 10-03-2006 02:24 AM

how cool is it!

I just started a thread on those a couple of months ago. I was looking for a project car, so if you find anyone who has one (that has so many problems they would pay to get rid of it) let me know:D Very nice choice BTW. Once I saw a guy driving past my house with a beautiful charcoal one, it was missing a tire. I helped him put the spare on. I could not believe anyone would drive one of those on the rim, I almost passed out.

they are beautiful cars, but way too heavy and problematic for me.

good luck, and enjoy it.

And you thought parts & labor for your SVX was high priced! I love the BMW 8 series, but if buying one for myself, I'd choose the 840 with the V8 rather than the V12. Although the V12 burns lots of fuel and cost a bundle to keep it up, it's engine is smooth, almost like a turbine, with power available at all rpms. I hope you enjoy it. It and the Porsche 928 are cars that I consider comparable to the SVX in overall appeal. Best wishes.

Actually they're not problematic at all. My father used to work with a guy who bought 'em used and would drive 'em to 400k then get another one. They are maintainance hogs but reliable and durable IF cared for.

Congrats on the purchase. That's one of maybe 5 cars I'd trade my SVX for.

maybe problematic wasn't the right word (although the V8's in the 840 had Nikasil problems).

LOTS of electronics, late 80's/early 90's technology, 12+ (?) years old, BMW prices on top of 850 model obscurity.

sounds like a recipe for a hole in the wallet. ;)
