Changed the internal tranny filter.

Just changed my internal transmission filter, and drained/flushed/re-filled my ATF. It was probably the messiest thing I have ever done, I am covered in ATF, as is my garage floor. However, it does shift alot smoother now, and I also got confirmation that my tranny WAS rebuilt at some point, because I found the little tag that said "Remanufactured for Subaru" on it. When I first got it about a year and a half ago, the previous owners told me that it had been recently re-built, but they had misplaced the paperwork. Since it shifted fine anyways, I didnt particulary care or want to know more (I also didnt really know about the poor SVX trannies). Despite the mess, it was all worth it.

Anyways, what do you do with old ATF? I know that you can recycle old engine oil, but what about Tranny oil?

it gets dumped in with engine oil junk yards, parts stores, and shops should take it

I keep it seperate, and the parts store recycles it. :)
