Trip

Hi Ken, Take the '97 SVX or the '05 Legacy. Both are low miles and are something to talk about. Take care and watch out for the turkey, BOBB

i really want to take an svx so i can experience the phenomenal highway mileage i've read so much about. it's going to be tough to commit to putting about 1300 miles on the 97 going to oklahoma. if it were a meet, it'd be a different story. i am leaning towards the claret since i don't care how many miles it has. :)

GT all the way! If i had one of those i would so be road-tripping it!

I vote for cancelling the trip, but if you must go I'd vote for the high-miles SVX. :p

Long distance gas mileage rocks... at least for SVXii.... at least for Penny....

the overwhelming choice is for the legacy. hmmm. c'mon people! c'mon!

I voted for the Cherokee because it is not the new vehicle and at the same time it is not a vehicle which is not made anymore.

I guess you could argue against the mileage being bad, and it wasn't the most reliable vehicle for Kurt Russell in Breakdown but my dad has one and I like the comfort and space it provides over a SVX.

Happy trails either way, and I wish I had such a tough choice :)

Low mileage SVX. Last thing you want is tranny issues with your high mileage car on a long road trip. I vote low mileage SVX or 05 legacy.

i have yet to see an 05 GRAND cherokee on the road, but there are more 99-04 GRAND cherokees than you can shake a stick at. i will say it's the most comfortable vehicle i've ever owned. went to michigan in september 03 and drove 950 miles the first day without stopping (except refueling and bathroom breaks). i'm just not looking forward to 20 mpg on the high end. at least it only requires regular fuel, unlike the subies. :)

tranny issues? i think svx bad trannys are just a myth. i've had 49k trouble-free miles in the claret. not so much as a single flare or slip. now where's that piece of wood? i need to go knock on it. :)

not the 97, keep the miles off that beauty

Sidewinder 11-20-2004 11:13 AM

Shelfy,

I voted for the low mileage SVX because math told me so.

The car is seven years and in average, people drive approx 12000 miles per year. Thus, your 97 should have 84000 on it. Instead, it has 13.10% of that with only 11000. Therefore, the choice is obvious.

[crazy math and being dumb]

If we were to take a function of your SVX and then take a derivative, we'd find that you're at that point where the function is flat and the slope is zero. Taking a second derivative tells us that we're at a local max. All these things point to taking your 97.

[/crazy math and being dumb]

I'm really fun at parties. ;)

I voted for the'97.

A good run should do the car a lot of good. Too few miles can be just as bad as too many
