Gold or Silver BBSes?

Ok, so I have a set of silver 05-07 STi BBS wheels on my blue SVX. I like them a lot and I think I want to get another set for my black one. One thing I like about them is the almost stock look they have. The gold ones don't look as stock, but I think they might look great on a black (or blue!) SVX.

So the options are here. Hopefully I'll be able to get them in the next couple months or so. Any pics of black cars with STi BBS wheels in either color would be great :).

I may swap the 18" Gold Prodrives from my 92 claret onto my 97 ebony. Think they would look good?

I had my silver ones powdercoated grey for my ebony.

Gold looks awesome on black and white cars, with blue almost as good.

That said I really like the rota formula mesh on my car.

17" though, Either the 05-07 BBS or Rota Grid gets my vote.

I love gold. Once the body work is done I'll probably keep the BBS rims as track wheels and pick up a set of gold 18" Rota Grids for street wheels.

Nice, I like that a lot. I forgot about grey. Is that the same shade of grey that some of them came in? How much does it usually cost to powdercoat a set of wheels anyway?

The grey ones would probably look good on the blue car too.

Thx for the pics crazy_pilot. That looks pretty nice.

Re: Gold or Silver BBSes?

The cost depends on where you take them.
Mine were just under $400 but they blasted them, fixed some curb rash and powdercoated them as well. Make sure they don't put it on too thick. It holds up a little better but you'll find yourself having to remove some coating from the lugnut seats.(steel inserts)
I decided on that shade of grey. I don't know if they came in that color.
I have seen some bronze ones.

I think you should keep the silver ones and give me the gold ones :)

Funny, I'm facing this same decision for my car. It seems I corded the tires that are on it now, somehow...

Update on this:

Bought another set of silvers, they're sitting in my garage for now. I haven't decided whether to leave the tires that are on there, or take the tires off, powdercoat them that dark grey color that Andrew P did, and get some new tires. The tires are Eagle F1 or something; they look like summer tires, but they also look like they have not that much tread left, and more importantly have been sitting a while. They're also a different size from the ones on my other car. I'm leaning toward getting new tires that I can trust more, since I'm not the only one that uses this car.

And the long-awaited conclusion...

Decided to just leave them silver, so both cars will match.

Great choice, very clean! I have a set of BBS wheels and cannot wait to get them refinished. I am leaning towards black for my red SVX, question in my mind is the finish - matte or semi gloss.

They are these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....I&autoModClar=

Which are actually not new rubber, they're a year old. They were on the blue car until yesterday, but I put the new tires on the new wheels and put those on the blue car, and moved the wheels that were on the blue car to the black car.

I like both but the ventuses are supposed to be better. Have a set on my wife's lancer and they're great so far. They are both very good summer tires.

I bet that would look great. I still think these wheels are a really good option for SVXes. They look good, are not too big, but fill out the space nicely, are very light weight (guy who put the tires on said so several times), and fit perfectly (the hub is the same size, so they are already hub-centric = no worries as with some other rims, and the offset is also perfect). Plus, it opens up a lot of really good tire choices, because the STi crowd has the taste for them (at least it seems like it to me).

My brother had a red 240 and some 17" Sentra SER Spec-V rims that were finished in a matte/flat black and they looked really nice on it. I'd go for that if it were up to me, but I'm sure it will look great either way.

For reference, the SVX lugnuts will not work with the BBSes. I got these which look good to me and fit very nicely, but do not work with the lug wrench that comes in the trunk of the SVX (stock lug nuts are 19mm, these are 21mm): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ms_ohs_product

The black "spline drive" ones would look great with them, but they cost more than I'm interested in paying for them.
