Dead SVXes

I now have 2 dead SVXes (Alcyone & SVXY). Both of them have good batteries. I suspect it is the fusible link (I don't know it's official name) that sits between the battery and the fender. I will pull them tomorrow because today is Mothers Day and The Beautiful Naviguesser comes first. I'm now 79 & getting too old for this stuff. If anyone has these fusible links I will buy them from you. Please notify me by posting here. Thanks.

Re: Dead SVXes

Larry the fusible link is in the fuse box, the one you are talking about between the battery and the fender is the dropping resistor for the TCU

Thanks. I checked with a local dealership this morning. None are available in the worldwide s Subie network. The part number is 22654AA060. Does anyone here have any they can sell to me? I guess it's time to start searching.

Re: Dead SVXes

Hello,

22654AA060 is dropping register for Duty Solenoid A of automatic transmission.

Is your SVX's engine starting fine and only having problems with the transmission when moving?
Normally, if there is a problem with solenoid A, the POWER light will flash to warn you. The error code is 11.

I've heard that non-JDM SVX transmissions don't have power modes. Maybe it's not POWER that's on your meter cluster, but ECO or some other lamp.

Mori.

Anyone know the resistance value and wattage? this is just a sand cast resister used in many electronics. it's 25W 15Ohm replacement.

Re: Dead SVXes

Hi

I confirmed Wiring diagram and parts list again. sorry I made a misunderstanding.

22654AA060 drives fuel pump. not AT related.
Is your SVX has problem in fuel pressure? If register is no problem, it might reason of problem is fuel pump.
Is pump works ? Is there any sound from pump in the fuel tank when you turn on the ignition key (not start) ?
As far as I know, the fuel pump is often the problem, not the resistance.

It sits between my SVX's battery and the fender. The resistance value was 30 ohms in my SVX.

Hi,

I'm a little confused.

The resistor between the battery and the fender is 22655AA020. it connect via glay connector F22,
This has to do with solenoid A in the AT. The resistance value was 30 ohms.

22654AA060 is located next to the fuel control box. it connect via glay connector R44 which placed close to fuel pump controller (close to fuel pump). This resistor is in series with the fuel pump to limit the current.

Which resistance are you talking about?

I'm talking about the one between the battery and the fender. I got the part no. from a Subaru dealership. It may be wrong.

Re: Dead SVXes

Hi,

Well then, it would be resister for the automatic transmission. The part number is 22655AA020. 22655aa021 is compatible.

It seems that it still available.

https://www.subarupartsdeal.com/part...2655aa021.html

The engine is fine, but there is a problem with the transmission, right ?
If your problem is that the engine won't start, this part will not the reason.

Re: Dead SVXes

The entire start mechanism is dead. I will put back the resistor tomorrow morning. I removed it to bring to the Subaru dealership. Now I have to go through the fuses and start circuit. There is absolutely nothing when I insert and turn the key and the battery is good.

Re: Dead SVXes

Hi,

Okey, engine not start....

I like to help you, but there are too few information.
Can you answer some questions?

Q1) Do almost all the warning lights around the meter come on when you turn the key? Yes or No.

A1) Power comes to ECUs if yes, go Q2. It is serious situation if no.

Q2) When you turn the key on (not start the starter motor), dose the fuel pump make some sounds ? The fuel pump is located near the rear seat or trunk. Yes or No.

A2) if Yes, fuel pump and register will alive, go Q3. if No, there may be a problem with the fuel pump. If the fuel pump is not working properly, the engine will not run even if the starter motor turns. fuel pump is discontinues, but, in this case, there is workaround.

Q3) If you turn the engine key further, will the starter motor turn? Yes or No.

A3) If yes, you need diagnostic ECU to know more detail. if not, it may problem in Starter motor. Starter motors sometime stick. It may be recovered by hitting it with a hammer handle. Also, you may need to check the fuses.
Does it make a clicking sound when the starter motor does not rotate? If so, power go to the starter motor but power may not enough. Checking the battery voltage at this time will tell you if the battery is weak.

Q4) Is any warning light lit or flashing like check engine ?

A4) If yes, Further diagnostics may reveal the cause.

Note that when a fuse blows, the actual cause is often something other than the fuse. If you don't fix the actual fault, the problem won't be solved and blow the fuse again. If you don't understand what my question means, I suggest you consult a professional.

I'm not a native speaker, so my English may not be perfect. If my English expression is wrong, can someone point it out?

You are doing a good job Nori, quite understandable.

I never got around to working on the cars today. I had to do other stuff around the house. Hopefully, Sunday I can work on the cars and find out what's wrong.

Hi,

Don't rush, let's do it step by step.

I'm talking a little at a time, because too much information may confuse you. If you can be more specific about the condition of your vehicle, I may be able to give more advice.

Just thought I should mention the fuse box. It's next to the battery. The case says what those fuses are for. All but the spare fuses should be normal.

If there is something wrong with the circuit, the fuse will blow. If you look closely at the fuse, I think you can visually confirm it. Alternatively, it's more certain if you have a circuit tester such as a digital multimeter. When checking it with a tester, remove the fuse and measure it. Accurate measurement may not be possible while attached to the car.

There are also some relays there along with the fuses. The relay should make a clicking sound when its function is active (when any switch is pressed). Let's talk about relays again when needed.

I don't know your technical level, so I'm writing in as much detail and easily as possible. please let me know If you don't need more information.

I am an electrical engineer and have experience repairing almost all SUBARU before 2010 parts except automatic transmissions.
