Giugiaro, did this for Ford since Ford just could not do it.

If this Mustang ever gets produced then I will see it as an Italian designed car.

In the late 1980's, Subaru could not do the SVX so Giugiaro did it for Subaru. Therefore, in my mind, the SVX is also Italian designed. There's no point in not giving the Italians credit for what theyve done.

Also, view this youtube video or just google italian mustang concept.

Purpose:

1. The point of this thread is to demonstrate and provide examples of how Italian designers are being used by large auto manufactuers worldwide to provide a refreshing look for their cars that are not able to be done using their own inhouse designers.

2. Change the mindset of members of this forum through plausible argument and examples that Italians created the SVX design for Subaru because Subaru did not have the inhouse design expertise to create the SVX.

3. My final purpose is to lobby this forums adminstarors to change the name of this forum from "Subaru SVX World Network" to "Subaru Italian Designed SVX World Network"

I feel tension.. does anyone else feel tension? mmmm...tension.

This reminds me about all those silly drivers I cut off getting into the toll booth cue. People are just so excitable. Its amusing when some one truely just gets totally upset (at being CUT IN LINE). But what makes you feel like a total arse, is when they don't do anything but slowly shake their head at you.

Catch the moral of the story?

sigh.... this is starting to become like nasioc or USMB w/a certain fellow who would proselytize about the wonders of the 3 main bearing design on the EA82s and how it will one day save the world.

conventional wisdom is that the company that badges the car is where it's origin is. Chevy=american, Toyoya=Japanese, Jaguar=British, BMW=german, Saab=Swedish.

But with globalization of car companies the destinctions get really blurred.

Case in point, the Mitsubishi 3000 GT is a japanese car. The Dodge Stealth is considered an American car. but wait... The Stealths were made is Japan and are pretty much identical to the 3000 GT's. but your average joe will see the 3000 GT as Japanese and the Stealth as American.

How about the Saab 92-X. Designed and made in Japan, badge as a Swedish. Japadish? Swepan?
kelly blue book link says it's a Swedish car.

We call them the Saabaru b/c we know that under the hood lies a manufacturing plate that says "FUJI HEAVY INDUSTRIES" But everyone else will see it as a Saab that kinda looks like a Subaru.

While you are free to have your opinions regarding what a car's nationality should be identified as, it seems that you are in the minority and trying to prove your point by making virtual sandwich board signs exclaiming the wonders of italian design and how everyone else is wrong will get you blasted and at worse banned.

I like to tell people that the guy who designed the Maseratis designed the SVX. But I call it a Subaru and give props to Fuji for the leather seats and the flat 6 we all love and the other things that make the SVX what it is.

To me. The only thing that makes the SVX what it is is the Italian design lines.
