How does the forrester xt hit...

...0-60 in 5.3???? 210hp, 3300# and aero as an Element!! My M3 with auto won't do that!

Not only that, it turns 13.8 in the quarter... STOCK. I have one as my new project vehicle at work. It can be seen soon at an autocross near ATL, carving up the cones on STi suspension. :D :D

JeffN 07-16-2003 09:05 PM

Yeesus! How would it do w/an auto?

CigarJohnny 07-16-2003 09:31 PM

Best numbers I've read on it are in the low 7's for 0-60

I've driven both the auto and the 5 speed. they are very fast cars, and are truly a pleasure to drive. the interior is very nice.

Come on, folks! THat is the only place I've seen times like that. Look at the numbers and do the math. I refuse to believe that site. The thing is an SUW with only 177hp! Must weigh as much as the SVX with 53 less HP and the aerodynamics of a brick! The 1/4 in 13.94? Even with a 5-speed it couldn't be accounted for. Guys here have 5-speeds in their SVX and it only gets them into the 15's and that's with 4.11 gears.

Just look at what it's performance is to compare to according to that site:

1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1
1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 W-30
2001 Porsche Boxster S
2001 Jaguar XKR

Most tests I've seen are all in the sevens (mid to high 7's). How could they knock 2.5 seconds off of what everyone else can make it do? Someone is smoking crack.

Forester xt

I drove one. Then walked over and bought a Legacy GT:D

Andy 07-17-2003 06:58 AM

The current XT is a 2.0 with 177bhp.

The other one quoted is the 2004 2.5. The times are therefore purely theoretical at this stage

JeffN 07-17-2003 07:36 AM

No links but search for car & driver mag-they got the same #'s on the 04 XT: 0-60 5.3, 210 bhp, 32XX#'s. Hard to believe even with those #'s-probably underrated like the SRT neon. Gotta drive one.

The XT's first year for the US is 2004. Those are the only ones we have here now.

You lucky lot. We are not getting the 2.5 at all. Still stuck with only the 2.0 and 2.0T. (Not that I would sell the SVX for one)

all this talk about XT's is making me hungry for a little wedge-shaped rocket.... :D
