Front hub bolts

Today I discovered that I am missing both front hub bolts on the front driver's side hub. The reason I was checking was that all of a sudden the steering became hard, like the power steering pump was low on fluid. I have no idea how or when the bolts could have disappeared. Can anyone tell me the size of the bolts so I can pickup replacements?

Can you please explain/describe what you mean by hub bolts?
The bolts that hold the wheel on?
The pinch bolt that secures the ball joint?
The bolts that secure the strut to the steering knuckle?
I REALLY do not as yet understand what you are saying.
Sorry, just trying to help.

Re: Front hub bolts

I guess I'm wrong about what I referred to as "hub bolts". There are two holes in the rotor on either side of the axle nut. I thought that there should be small bolts that went into the holes but I may be wrong. I remember from my many years of DIY that some car I owned had these bolts in the rotors but it may not have been a Subaru. In the SVX parts catalog (page200/201) it shows a bolt socket, part # 90112 0077, for the rotor. The rotor is only held on by the caliper/brake pads; I can move the front of the rotor sideways so I thought that the bolt sockets were missing. I checked my my wife's 95 SVX and my daughter's 99 Forester S and both had the same empty two holes in the rotors w/o bolts. So that's why I'm thinking I made a mistake; am I right or wrong? What is the purpose of the two holes?

Re: Front hub bolts

If your rotors get stuck onto the hub, usually because they became rusty you can then install a pair of 8mm X 1.25 bolts to push the rotor away from the hub.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense rather than using a larger hammer.
