worst week evAr! :(

so most you reading this thread probably know my tranny is on it's way out. since i think i should stop driving the claret until i can get some help figuring out what the problem is, i decided to take the polo green svx (justification for posting in the gsb forum :) ) to work for only the third time in the 2.5 years i've owned it. it is a beautiful day and the road to the casino is a nice twisty, but well-traveled road with an unfortunately low speed limit. i was enjoying the drive so much that i didn't notice the officer that i just passed going the opposite direction had pullled a u-turn to catch the woman in front of me who was following the car in front of her very closely. so we drove about another half mile until the road opened up and a nice clear passing lane laid in front of me. it wasn't until i had well exceeded the posted speed limit that i noticed the officer. she was able to pull both of us over and give the lady two tickets: one for following to closely and another for driving slowly in the left lane (new state law :) ). i received a whopper of a speeding ticket clocked at 65 mph in a 40 mph zone, but reduced to only 24 mph over keeping me from a mandatory court case.

so i tried to behave myself and obey the law from the rest of my 15 mile drive. about half way there, i came around a curve and saw a squirrel trying to cross the road. i was going slowly and really thought he'd make it, but i was wrong. no one probably knows this about me, but i'm somewhat of a tree-hugger and besides the animals that are ground up for my nourishment, it really upsets me when they die needlessly.

when i finally got to work, i received a call from my mother who told me her doctor informed her she was a very high risk of a heart attack and needed to quit smoking. needless to say, i was very upset. she said she is taking the warning seriously and intends to quit. probably not until she finishes the pack or the carton though.

i'd finished ranting now and feel a little better now. :(

I am sorry to hear about your week. It seem that negative things come in groups which hit us a little hard at times. When good things come along, it seems that we accept those without thinking about them too much. (easier to take I guess) Keep your chin up high and remember that things could be worse. I know that is easy to say, but look around and you will see what I mean. There are many others out there that I would not want to trade places with. If you still have your SVXes, your health, and friends here, you are blessed. I hope your mother can change her risks so that her health will improve. Help her by enchouragment and be there when she needs you. I have found that if you are having a bad time of it, if you help others, it will help you out of your negative feelings. Good luck and remember that many of your friends are here and are behind you. :)

Other then the tranny issue your week doesn't sound that bad, look at it this way:
1)You could have been issued the full ticket and have to go to court over it

2)The squirrel probably could have made it had it been trying, however it wanted to die, as the tree it lived in was cutdown and not only did it loose it's home and all it's food, his wife and little baby squirrels moved in with their "Uncle" Jack, so you did him a favor ending his pain AND you also ground up food for a Crow or other such carnivorus animal so in some small way helped to continue the cycle of life

3)Your mother could have called to tell you she was dying of lung cancer from all those years of smoking and not that she was quitting a very hard habit to kick (I know, I smoked for 19yrs)

See your week really wasn't "The worst ever" :D

And, you could have swirved to miss the squirrel and hit the tree just like the guy did in the insurance commercial, that was cut down, and not only did it loose it's home and all it's food, his wife and little baby squirrels moved in with their "Uncle" Jack. Whew - that was hard to type! :D

See, you feel better already! :) :) :)

thanks for the support, earl. the only major thing here is my mother. thankfully, i get it to spend the day with her tomorrow and now that she is truly afraid of dying, i should be able to help realize she needs to start on the patch. :)

1. this is true about going to court. i still have the opportunity, but i got speeding ticket near the same place 7 years ago and went to court over it. the district attorney offered reduced points and non-speeding violations to every other driver except me for the mere fact of where i was caught.

2. hubby said the same thinking about the squirrel wanting to die. he said this when he was finished crying for the poor creature.

3. this was first thought i had when she called me this morning.

ps - and no, it hasn't been the worst week evAr. just the worst week this year. :)
