how hight should a SVX be off the ground

I think my strut springs are weak in the rear.
can some one tell me how hight the car should be in the front and in the rear.

on my car the top of the rear tire is just up inside the rear fender

I'm not so sure about the front and back individually, but I believe that the lowest point on the front bumper cover should have 5.6 inches of ground clearance (about 5 and 9/16 inches).

I actually asked mike this. Mine looks lower in the back than the rear but its because the rear wheelwell is flat on the top so it gives the illusion that its lower. Hope thats your case.

Sagging rear ends seem to be a common issue with SVXes. Could be the springs sagging, but it could also be something with the strut mount. The rubber cushion could be collapsing, or the upper spring seat could also be collapsing.

Wow. Nice tidbit of info. Is that in one of the service manuals?

Um, how much does your stereo stuff weigh? That may add a little sagg.

well I don't know, but I what guess about 150-200 pounds.
I used 2/3 a sheet of 3/4 MDF to make the box.

Wheel Arch Height.

From the official Japanese RHD manual : -

Measurements from center and highest point under edge of wheel arch to the the center of the wheel hub.

Front. 380 m.m. +10 , -20, or 14.96 inches + 0.39, - 0.79

Rear. 335 m.m. + 10, - 20, or 13.19 inches + 0.39, - 0.79

If you've got 150 lbs centered over the back wheels, the car will sit about 0.75" lower in the rear. If its centered further behind the back wheels, then you can expect it to sit even lower in the rear.

I guess I should just lower the front. going to need coil overs so I can set the back a little higher and the front a little lower.

ground controls and konis hopfuly next summer

That's what I'm waiting on!!! I'd like to make the car sit even or possibly a little lower in the front than in the rear but not noticably... Just want it to look perfectly level... Mine looks like it is riding on the rear bumper after doing the 5 speed conversion... We took nearly 160lbs off the front wheels with the conversion so I need that suspension to kinda level things out a bit...

AFBeefcake 09-22-2003 08:11 PM
