Proposed Site Addition

I'm thinking of writing a dealership / repair shop review tool that would allow you to enter your zip code and choose to see all shops within X miles of your zip, then read comments on each place along with a rating (5 stars or something). Is this a tool that would be useful to people here?

Comments/questions?

Wow, you can do that?

YES! :D

I could definitely dig that...

One comment I'd have is...after seeing all the bad reviews of dealerships here and at the yahoo site, you'd never find one with *a* star.:)

A lesson I learned a long time ago is that people that have a grudge, or complaint are the ones that generally speak up. It's true in all trades, not just cars. That's why I personally think the auto manufacturers place way too much emphasis on the CSI ratings.

Not to mention the fact that while we are a diverse bunch of folks, we're also a *very* small bunch of people, how would you collect your data? The only way that would be somewhat reliable would be to have access to Subaru's CSI figures, and those only include cars under warranty, so most SVX's would not be included now.

It's a good idea Sith, but there seem to be a few logistical problems involved...

Sith,

Very Good Idea! Plrease leave an area under each shop for comments. There was a similar idea on the Yahoo Site but it wasn't kept up. That would be a good starting point for info on dealerships and shops.

Guys, look at my site -- look under the forum.
meets, dealerships, mods, or look at audiworld.com for some ideas.

As for A dealerships, if you are in Chicago area, I recommand Schaumburg Subaru (as I have posted in my forum)

lwin.

Good idea, Sith. Make it so. I know you'll get a "mixed review" for Romain Buick Subaru in Evanville. Steve Wasion has had excellent luck with them. On the other hand, he hasn't asked them how much it'd cost to put in a tranny. :D

We have a winner...

I think you have a good idea there sith. Might become a real lifesaver for those of us unfortunate enough to have a problem on a trip...Don

Rate the Dealers

Eddycat,

<<<One comment I'd have is...after seeing all the bad reviews of dealerships here and at the yahoo site, you'd never find one with *a* star.>>>

You should reread my comments about my dealership.
It is Bob Rafferty Pontiac, GMC, Subaru. It is in Newtown Square, Penna. I don't know the zip. They are great!! They are 4-star. They are a little more expensive than other Subaru dealerships closer to my house but they do things right the first time. That piece of mind is worth the extra money.
I also panned the dealership closest to my house. They are Concordville Nissan, Subaru, Skedoo, located in Concordville, Pa.
I went there 3 different times with 3 different Subarus for service. Each time something was wrong when I picked up the car. The worst case was a front end alignment on a 1996 Outback. When I picked up the car, it pulled to the right worse than when I brought it in. It was obvious that the car was not test driven after they did the alignment even though I requested it in writing. Three times they messed up. In my book 3 strikes is out.
Thats why I drive 30 minutes more to go to Rafferty. They are aces.

Yes!
Both good and bad reviews will be put in. I have a few of both for my area.
