Got taken by Doug Rudd too

I guess I am a little slower than every one else. I thought I would get my rotors from Doug after he assured me that he would send them to me. I paid $235.00 for all 4, and I rushed the MO to him so he could buy his car at the end of May. Time went on (mid June), and I saw a post that he was trying to sell them to another member. I got in touch with him, and he said that he had forgot that he had sold them to me. He said that he would get them right out to me. I didn't get them, so I contacted him again, and he said that he had been busy, but would get them righ out. I have not heard from him, and he has not responded to my emails or PMs asking for a refund of my money. I don't want the rotors anymore, just my money. Looks like I got bit too. I have never had any problems with any member before, and I feel very dissapointed that this has happened. I will pull my negative post if he comes through with a refund, but I am not going to hold my breath. I gess it takes me a little longer to figure out that I have been had after someone tells me that they are going to do something.

:(

Rudd rip off...

Sorry you got burned Earl....I will not pull my negative posts...but I don't think this jerk cares if he is embarrased or not.

He will get his; what goes around, comes around....

He's bad news....

Got a location for this flake? It doesn't matter whether he's a thief or a fool - the net effect on his victims is the same regardless of intent.

Good news guys. I was speaking with a co-worker (ex post office employee) about this and he advises this is mail fraud. I assume you sent checks through the mail. Call your local PO and tell the story. They will give you a number to call. Can you say "Federal Offence"? The PO does not take these matters lightly. I also assume you have some e-mail documentation on the sale and cancelled checks.:)

punisher 07-11-2002 12:44 PM

Can you spell 'federal offense?' =) Sorry, I couldnt help myself.

I wouldn't get too excited over reporting the guy really. If you report him, all they do is open up an investigation file, which is basically a complaint file. If someone got taken for thousands of dollars, then they would take it very seriously and act on it...but a hundred here and a hundred there wouldnt give them much interest and so, unless there were a huge number of verifiable complaints, they would not take any action against the guy. Even if they were to take action against the guy, it would take quite a long amount of time for an investigation to be completed and charges filed, and it would be quite a longer time before anyone saw any of their money back (in the form of reparations, if the judge feels compensating the 'victims' is warranted).

On the other hand, civil court is always a good answer. It may seem silly for one or two people to sue the guy for a couple hundred bux (silly as it may seem, it happens a lot, so if you want, go for it), but if everyone who got taken files as plaintiffs, then he can be sued for the total amount of $$$ that everyone got taken for in one suit. I know that in some instances all plaintiffs do not have to be present, but in other instances they do. Everyone's best bet would be to get into contact with eachother and then agree upon one lawyer and see what he advises. Filing a civil case, whether it be small claims court or the big leagues, usually is a lot quicker than criminal court.

This is all assuming that everyone has proof, in some form or another, that payment was indeed sent to this guy and that he did indeed cash it.

What's interesting is that perhaps this guy isn't really a scam artist. Perhaps he's just quite incompetant and now after everyone is getting pissed at him, he doesn't have any of the money to give back.

:p Are you competent enough to properly spell "incompetant"?

Also irresistable.

Ron.

Has anyone in here heard of Joel Cox. Sent him $220.00 and never saw my rotors either.

Joel better hope I never come to CO.

Money was promised on April 1, 2002. Never saw it.
The MO was Dated Oct 7, 2001 and he cashed it.

Here is his number in case someone wants it.

720-276-1854

I think I will go through the PO and try that route first.

Ciao

Simple searching...

When you're looking for someone like Cox or Rudd, and have an email address, go to Google -> Groups and enter it. You will get the online life history of that individual since he/she adopted that email address. You can identify interests, read posts, get ID correlations, etc. etc.

Try yours, too. You may be in for a surprise.

oneothefewproud 07-11-2002 02:01 PM

Henry,

It didnt work for me. I put in my email address that I have had for years and nothing came up.

Clicked on Groups. Then entered my email address and click search. Nothing.

Anyone have Joel's email address?

He's baack...

Seems like Rudd (dougru78639) is still trying to "sell" parts in the Yahoo group this hour.

I have to give this guy credit for his balls. Someone should find out where he lives (someone get his number and we can reverse it) and go knock on his door. I guess my plans for getting the rear lights did not go through. hummm... both myself and doug mohr was asking for that item. and Doug Mohr got them in good condition. I guess I was lucky.

Very cheeky fellow indeed.

Lwin

1994SubaruSVX 07-12-2002 02:45 PM

i am not giving anyone credit for their balls?!

lwin, i think this is what you were trying to say:

I give this guy some credit, he has got balls for screwing over three people on this site and thinking he is going to get away with it.

anyway something like that. you statement simply sounds like, well what it says........hahahahahaha.......just picking on you. :p :D

ensteele 07-12-2002 02:49 PM

Thanks Boone

I just went over to the Yahoo site and emailed Mr Doug. I will see if he gets the message this time. He has not replied to my other messages, so I guess I won't hold my breath. I do have his phone number, and I think I have his address. If this does not work, I will go the next step. A registered letter. I guess he thinks that if he keeps moving, no one can get him. Yes, he does have guts to be on the yahoo site and be selling stuff.
