Looking for a 6 speed for a 92 AWD

I am looking for a 6 speed tran and the paddels for the whole change over. I would like to put a 6 speed in over a 5 speed. I also don't know what 6 speed will fit. I think I have seen a few that have a 6 speed's in there SVX.

The only Subaru 6MT is in the WRX STi. There are several versions across the different model years and options packages, differing in gear ratios and front diff setup. Go here: http://www.rallispec.com/Transmission%20chart.htm

[Subaru doesn't make a 6spd paddle shifter. I think the 5spd auto might be available in manumatic form, but I'm not sure.]

Any of the Subaru 6MTs will bolt up to the SVX engine. The USDM 6MTs all use the DCCD electronically controlled center diff. It would be impossible to wire up the DCCD to work properly on an SVX (unless you wanted to spend thousands of dollars on wiring and sensors). The JDM 6MTs come in three variants:

1) DCCD w/Suretrac LSD front diff -- same as USDM

2) non-DCCD w/open (non-LSD) front diff

3) non-DCCD w/Suretrac LSD front diff

#3 is by-far the most preferred 6MT among the WRX people because no one wants to mess with trying to wire up the DCCD, and the Suretrac front diff improves cornering traction. That tranny is also the most rare of the JDM 6MTs. Very difficult to find a used one. The non-DCCD/non-Suretrac are fairly plentiful.

If you are interested in a JDM 6MT, I import them on occasion. I can usually beat everyone else's price. The trade-off for the low price is that it takes more time for me to get the tranny.

Yes... you know, a tax return?... and this year the battle is between the SVX and the f-body. The wife has been warned to stay clear of it. :D

What's a ballpark figure for #2 and #3 above?

I'm interested... It would probably be a 6 ~ 9 months timeframe before I do it since my house will be built by then and I'll finally have a garage to work on my projects. :D

Usually, somewhere between $3200-$3600 + shipping from me to you. Depends on the price I get on it in Japan.

Yes #3 best bet, and you can use any 5speed WRX pedal assembly for the six speed, Altho the JDM remote resevior is nice to have.
