Leaking injector?
Hi there folken' this issue started last night (at least I noticed it last night)
When I started it up a white cloud of smoke poofed out of the back (note, last night it was about 55 deg, I'd imagine it was fairly high humidity) the smoke didn't dissipate for quite a while, just hung out there for about 40 seconds. The smoke continued to come out the back the entire night, though not nearly as dense. This morning, it happened again - though much less severe - and no vapor came out after the engine had warmed up. Coolent is clear - I flushed and chainged the oil today - honey colored after 3k No C.E.L. action - But when I filled up today my milage had dropped about 3mpg from last week. Could I have an sticky leaking injector? The smoke didn't smell like gas - it smelled like typical exaust. Help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Patrick. |
mine and my wifes svx both do this a few times a year at random but if I fill up at a certain gas station here then it will do it for the whole tank. Seems to be more common in cold weather.
I would give it a week and then forget it when it goes away - and maybe throw a can of dry gas in the tank. |
If it starts right up and it does not smell gasoline a lot, it's not a fuel injector. A single leaking injector will give you hard start problems (occasionally it will not start at all without full throttle).

Hopefully it's not a head gasket leaking antifreeze into the exhaust.
