Remote Buttons

OK I opened up my remote today to change out the batteries and low and behold I discovered that in fact there are two buttons on that badboy. You can see what I assume is the second button, recessed into the face of the unit under the first. SO I immediately went out to the car and started pushing the button, nothing happens. Of course now I wont be able to sleep trying to figure out what it is supposed to do. Or maybe its not a button at all. Help please.

Not all SVX remotes have the double button (neither of the two of mine do), which, I suppose was an early feature (my remotes were not the ones that came with the car). I believe the speculation is, that if you had two SVXes, you could program one button for one and the other button for the other. Also, if one of the buttons begins to fail, you can set your remote to the other.

I ordered a new remote a few months ago and there's been a re-design. No longer does it say "SVX" on it. It just says "Subaru" and it's black with blue letters that look like something that would have come out during the era of the movie "TRON", that's how 80's it looks. But the manufacture date was 5/01. The biggest thing about the remote is that it does indeed have TWO buttons. A "1" and a "2". Both buttons unlock the car after I programmed it. I don't know why it has two, I have been wondering.

If any dealership sends me anything other than the cheap looking SVX remote with the SVX logotype and the big orange button in the middle, they can keep it. I would be livid to receive anything other.

Well Randy, don't call Couer D' Alene Subaru (Eddycat's people) looking for a new remote, because they are the ones that sent me this one!

They're also the ones who took 11 days for "overnight" delivery of my TPS . . . and, charged me sales tax . . . not only on the purchase, but, on the 20.00 "overnight" shipping. Don't worry, I won't be ordering from them again. :D

Maybe the 2nd button was intended for those that frequently lose their remote...push button #2 and the remote instantly appears in your hand.....

Talk about your "brain warp." Kinda like my idea of including a video tape in the box with every new VCR on how to hook it up. :D

I'm always trying to "Push Ardubjay's Buttons", even remotely.

Obviously, the new remote can unlock the left door & right door independently. Better living through sophistry.
Ron.
