I Love AWD

I sure do love it. We got 4 or 5 inches of snow today in central Jersey. Like usual my school doesnt let me out early and its snowing almost at a rate of 2 inches per hour. Then it starts sleeting and the cars are covered.

All the other cars are spinning their tires struggling to get out and I just pull right out. I had to go home on all straight backroads that werent plowed very much and I had to follow right behind this senior's Camaro SS and he was crawling home at like 10 miles an hour. So I just pull to left and pass him and continue on without any slipping until I got to the main roads.

It was quite a day everyone was all nervous about driving home but I actually looked forward to it.

I also managed to take a few pics.

yeah, AWD pretty much owns. i'll actually be kind of bummed when winter is gone because i won't be able to swing my tail end around corners.. oh well, i suppose there's probably a benefit to predictable, dry roads with no frost heaves :)

I cant imagine living in New England and buying I car I intend to use all year round and not have it be AWD. And since I don't have the bank roll to stock up on Audi (yet) I guess you can call me a Subaru man

Me too...

My school got out early as well, on the way home I watched a 300ZX driving sideways and a Mustang whose front wheels weren't moving but the backs were spinning like crazy. AWD still isn't that great in slush though, I went around a slushy bend and started to spin. My tire bounced off the curb and I was fine again.

You guys with snow!!! Are so lucky!!!

I haven't seen Snow in a very long time. Especially on the roads! We get a lot of rains here in CA, but the roads don't get that slippery...... sad, he he. (on the good side, the car does not rust, at least something)

I can't wait to have AWD. I am so sick of snow at this point and my Saturn:( sliding around...Actually, I've gotten used to handling it so it doesn't do it that bad, but can't wait to get rid of it!

I'm supposed to be in class in 3 minutes... I don't feel like going. :(

Since I had my tranny replaced, this is the first real snow I have had to play with. I had to pick my son up from school around 1pm yesterday before the roads were plowed. Trying to get there so he would not have to wait too long, I was racing down the back industrial park roads at about 60mph. Hooowee! What fun it is getting sideways at that speed in a straight line! Even in an AWD you can only go so fast in snow and slush. :D Needless to say I had an absolute blast power sliding through all my turns. Even going into a turn with the car wanting to plow straight, a little gas and the front end tucked nicely into the turn and went where I pointed it.

My buddy at work here with a WRX has Pirelli's from the factory on his and he said he was having the worst time in the stuff yesterday. He couldn't stop or steer worth a darn. He is totally green with envy.
