Suggestion for the forums

Right now, we have some "how to's" and fixes in the how to locker. you can't search them, they're kind of limited, and aren't all that up to date in terms of containing many of the good information containing threads.

I suggest that we have a new forum, that would be a "tech articles" or a "FAQ" forum. It would be locked from the start, and threads containing links, writeups, pictures, and other good information could be placed in there by the moderators.

To make it easier from the start for the mods, we could even create a thread that everyone on the forum could suggest and discuss old threads and whether they should be included.

I've seen this on many of the other forums, and it just seems like the best way to organize all the files and such. This way, the information is searchable, links are all in one place, and a group of commonly asked questions could be answered.

Discuss:)

That's a great idea. I'll nominate myself to be one of the people to keep it up to date.

I too like that idea. When I first started browsing the forums (july '02) I always saw people talking about the How-to location, but didn't find it for quite sometime. Yeah it was dumb, but being able to have a forum and simply search it is much better. For the most part, it would be a simple cut and paste. I would be willing to volunteer to help the changeover. If we can have one person for each section, it wouldn't take much time/effort at all.

I'll second that nomination.....just don't switch parties mid stream

I would also be plenty willing to help keep stuff up to date and find useful threads. Another thing would be to write a FAQ, which I think I could definitly help with also.

I would like to see how many people think this is a good idea, or not... so if you read this, and don't really have anything to add, just post a "I agree/disagree to the new forum"

Good idea. SVXN could use a facelift.

Any Moderator or Admistrator opinions on this?

I'd really like to see this done.

Sounds exactly like the layout on scoobymods.com.
Check out the svx section there.

I agree! and while on the subject of sprucing things up a link or 2 should be added to the Live chat page for IRC clients MAC & PC, along with the IRC server info and port# etc.
