How much $ have you put into your SVX?

I thought this would be helpful for those who are new owners or those who are thinking of buying an SVX.

Up to date I have spent over 24K since 2004!
It sound like alot, but it averages around $225 a month.
This includes the purchase price, maintenance, repairs, replacement parts, upgrades and labor.

Re: How much $ have you put into your SVX?

I am thinking mine is like $9,000-$10,000 if I include the body work, upgrades, repairs as well as the various wheel and tire combos. I have had the car a little over 5 years. Over the past few years it has been mechanically solid not requiring repairs (other than the bodywork) Years two and three required many repairs as I addressed the leaks, failing sensors and transmission failure.

Re: How much $ have you put into your SVX?

Since buying the polo in 2002, I have a little over $22,000 invested.

This also includes the purchase price of the car, general maintenance over 14 years and 92,000 miles, and all the items listed in my signature.

That's $130.00 a month.

.

Oh god you don't want to know... I have a spreadsheet around somewhere that tallies it up, but suffice to say I've probably spent more on the SVX than my Spec B cost me to buy.

Re: How much $ have you put into your SVX?

Ballpark figure is about $40K.

It would break down to around $30K for the original new car purchase and about $10K in upkeep (power steering pump, axle boots, A/C refit, transmission replacement, trans cooler & filter, sensor replacement, power window assembly, windshield, struts, tires) over 20 years.

So that's about $2000/year over the life of the car, not counting routine maintenance.

I stopped counting so I don't make myself depressed....:(
I probably I know within just the car and 5spd swap put me close to 5k alone.

Edit: didn't realize this was a year or so old.

Re: How much $ have you put into your SVX?

Had mine almost exactly one year.

Battery $400.00
Thermostat and Anti freeze $80.00
Rear bearings and front CV boots $820.0

1300.00

About $110.00 a month.

Cheap entertainment.. I'd budgeted $300.00 a month, so it's obviously time to either break or upgrade something!

I inherited my wife's 04 Jetta when we married and it has been nothing but headache. Not so much the level of effort to fix the issues (thus far) but the amount of them. Those engineers also didn't think about the people working on those vehicles and it seems everything is overly complicated. /endrant
