O.T. Darwin Award candidate

Local newpaper story about two dudes that got drunk. Climbed a security fence (or two) and up a pole the carries the power lines for the Boston to NYC Accella train.

Up on the pole is a platform to sit on. They did. One of them got too close to the 26,000V power line and was blown clear of the platform (and to pieces no doubt).

He died instantly. His buddy was actually burned from the flames and sparks. He lived.

Moral: Don't drink and fry.

Same thing happened in Chicago several years ago. A drunk buy climbed a guard rail, climbed a chain link fence, went through another fence, took a leak on an electrfied track and fried himself.

That's not the end of the story. His family sued the city of Chicago for negligence . . . and won.

Similar to the guy who smelled gas in his basement, went to locate the source and lit a match to see better. KABOOM!

A guy here in Colorado last year decided to make himself an electric fence around his backyard garden, ran an extension cord out from the house and wired it directly to the fence.

A couple of days later...

Zap!

Sheesh. What was he thinkin'. The REAL electrified fences are bad enough, but, at least they pulse on and off, so, if you grab them, you can let go. Also, if your uncle, puts an electric fence near the back porch of the cabin where you and your cousins often go camping, and he doesn't tell you about it, and, you go out at night and take a leak off of said back porch right onto the electric fence, you don't have a weenie roast, by mistake. :D But, it is a sobering experience.

Do I want to know how you learnt that experience?
