sensor questions

how hard to replace idle air control valve? does anybody have any pics/description as to where its located? Chilton manual says its "incorporated into the throttle body." real helpful.
trying to replace most sensors this year for my "60k tune-up." thanks!

It is under throttle body. I don't think it can be removed without removing the throttle body, which does not mean it is "extremeley" hard, but it's definitely more than just 2 bolts.

I would not bother with the IAC valve - it seem to be very reliable and some cleaning is all it might ever need.

TPS (dirt accumulation) and MAF (wiring problems in the sensor, fixable) are the sensors that seem to be going most often. Both are expensive to replace.

Idle Air Controller

Beav suggested I clean both the throttle body and the IAC to rule out for my car's intermittent poor engine performance. I did it. It's not too hard. Take off black rubber air tube from air filter to throttle body, remove several hoses (emissions, vacuum and small coolant lines to throttle body. Remove six bolts (tops facing rear of car, 12 mm?) holding TB to "intake manifold". The IAC is bolted (adjusted also!) on to TB. I don't know how to adjust - I just cleaned the TB and IAC with carb cleaner.

Hope this helps a little, Jim :D
