Tranny additives

Are there any additives available that prolong the life of the transmission, or improve the performance?

ALSO,

When i unplugged the resistor behind the battery, when the car shifts, the shifts seem rather forceful between gears. Is this normal? It feels like it wears the tranny out more than usual.

Some do this for that effect...

Others on this board are way more knowledgable on this, but pulling the resistor does cause abrupt shifting, but less wear on the clutch. Though I believe you may need to watch your transmission mounts... Some like the quick/hard shifts, that are said to reduce heat build up, hence prolonging transmission life. Others aren't so sure this is a good thing, inasmuch as the designers put in the resistor to begin with.

I have killed many trannies and engines because of crap I put in them. There is no such thing as additive to improve the lifespan or preformance, esp. since your tranny is used. Chances are the new lube will most likely brake your tranny.
