forged internals stock?

Is it true that the svx has forged steel crank and rods and forged aluminum pistons stock?

TomsSVX 03-30-2006 04:22 PM

yes...

wow thats impressive. I thought what I was reading was just BS.

the eg33 is really a top of the line motor. too bad it never got much attention with FI from FHI.

I know the rods and the pistons usually go well after the bearings or headgaskets. But has anyone tested the hp limits of the stock rods/pistons without a stupid mistake (detonation/nitrous below 3k)

Except the pistons. They are a pressure casting. Good quality though.

Spray?

I think i read a 75 shot of nos wont hurt the eg33 (due to its forged guts) at all. id prolly put a new oil pump on her first...is that accurate?

Has anyone ruined a piston or rod because of power alone? I read that a few were running 150+ shots no2 and didnt have any problems until detonation or they sprayed too early.

If you keep the afr on the rich side (but not too rich), you'll be fine. However forged ≠ indestructible. If the motor runs lean on a nitrous shot and detonates hard, the motor will be history regardless of the forged crank, forged rods, and pressure cast pistons.

Most (read: all EJ's) Subaru engines have a forged crank and rods.
