5/6mt kits for sale...again

I am doing this again for those of you interested. These will be made to order and may take some time to produce, so don't contact me asking me to have one in the mail tomorrow. The kits will allow you to install a 5/6mt without all the hussle and bussle of fabricating your own parts. My kits have been tried and true by many board members and they will hold strong to even a stage 3 supercharged car, mine and MikeCG's cars are holding up great. Kits include the following:

Custom X-member
Extended shift linkage
Modified Imprezza pedal box
Modified SVX brake booster

THe kits will ring it at an even $800 after $100 core for the stock parts.

You will need to source a driveshaft or have your's extended. Also, a custom shifter mount will need to be made in order for the rear portion of the shifter to mount to the car. I can provide this, just let me know. Reply here or PM me for more info. pictures can be found in my locker of the numerous swaps I have done and pictures of the parts

Glad to see you're back into the parts making business.

Tom's parts are first rate! I have them in my car now for the 6MT and I've dragged, autoxed, dynoed, and daily driven on them and not a single issue! Great quality and strong.

You know I want one.:) I got all of the core parts ready.

Instead of using stock parts, I am going to attempt to do one with clean stock. I am gonna try it out this weekend, I will let you know how it goes. If all goes well I will be getting a hydro pedal box in a week or two and shift linkage is always available from Ebay.

I like to get one of your X members.. Can you give me a price. Don't have the stock parts to return to you.. Please let me know

TomsSVX 10-05-2006 06:11 PM

I would rather sell the kits as a whole... but $500 for the X-member alone without the core

How much for the kit + the tranny + the driveshaft + flying out to arizona + installing on my 92? :D

Tom, this is just a heads up, I guess, but I am planning to do all this in the future... how far into the future (I do not know), but I was wondering how much would everything run? just like GT asked you... except I live much closer so I could probably drive my car up to wherever... This will give me somewhat of an estimate of how many banks I have to rob... ;)

And I am sure we will meet many times in any of the upcoming events/meets or whatever else :D

Ok, as of right now, I am not sourcing the parts for you. I have written a very comprehensive parts list thats tells you everything you need to get. As I am out of a garage until someone can hook me up with something, I am not doing the swaps either. I am sure svxfiles would like to start doing them and what better to start with than my kit?? When I do begin sourcing the trans and supporting parts, I would expet this to land around 3k

That is a good price, and a good price goal. About the same as a 4EAT rebuild, and probably a lot stronger. Is that for a 6 speed? I would think it would be a 5 speed. In the past (when used trannys not available) one of these conversions in a manual impreza 5 speed was about 7k.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you list all the parts this comes with? I'm dyin to do this swap.

gtdanielgt 10-07-2006 12:36 AM

Tom I will definitely keep that in mind. I just got a motorcycle to cut down on some of the miles i would put on the svx in the future and plan on getting another car within the next couple of weeks. This may sound like a crazy idea... But if I could drive the car to you and then fly home and fly back when done...how much would you charge for everything.. You could take as much time as you needed since I wouldnt be relying on it as a daily driver.

Much appreciated,
Daniel

It is in with the How-To Documents in the Transmission section. You want the one called "5 & 6 Speed MT Transmission Install"

SVXtacy 10-07-2006 07:50 AM

What about those plates needed to mate the engine to the transmission? Also, I could be mistaken, but do you still have to lengthen the driveshaft if you're doing a 6 speed swap? I believe it's a little longer than the 5 spd gearbox. I want to try to make this a winter project/learning experience.
