heated seats

I think that i remember reading somewhere that heated seats were an option in some SVXi - maybe JDM models? Has anyone ever tried heated seats as an aftermarket mod? Are the seats all wired, just needing to be hooked up? Or would it require entirely new seats? My last two cars (Audi, Saab) both had heated leather seats and i got spoiled. The winters are really cold around here and leather seats get real cold too. So, if anyone has done this or knows what it would entail, please share. Thanks. Marc

I don't know for sure if some JDM's have heated seats or not, but I don't think they do. There are aftermarket kits you can get (Im sure someone has the link) that don't require you to replace the entire seat, just remove the seat cover, install the kit and replace the cover. My wifes LOB has heated cloth seats and they are very nice in the winter.

Cars imported into Canada had them. I have a set which are inserted under the seat cover and the switch is put into where the change holder is. :)

The Canadian SVXs had heated seats as an option.

The US Spec SVX does not have any of the harness on it. You need a complete kit.

You could order the Subaru OEM heated cushions:
Front Left Seat Cushion 64225PA020
Front Left Seat Back Rest 64225PA030
Front Right Seat Cushion 64225PA000
Front Right Seat Back Rest 64225PA010

and build your own harness, but in my opinion, the aftermarket kit is the way to go.

Earl, do you have a link? How expensive was the kit? Thanks to everyone for the info. Marc
