AUS Part needed! Replacement driveshaft

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process on fixing up my 1992 SVX to be sold and I need a replacement driveshaft.

If anyone is parting out in Australia, or has any advice on where to source any parts ie. wreckers, that would be much appreciated.

P.S. I actually only need the front half of the driveshaft as my U joint is buggered and the specialist recommends chopping the driveshaft in two and welding the work front half back on (or something along those lines).

Regards,

Jayden

Greetings Jayden, I have a good driveshaft. I am guessing that shipping would be outrageous though.

That's something that I haven't looked into. Do you have the part number for that driveshaft? Or is it straight off another 92 SVX? I'll PM you a rough offer

I've got a parts car sitting here (Central Coast), but I haven't started looking into pulling apart the drive train yet.

How urgent?

I wanted to have something by Feb latest so I can get it into the shop and fitted asap.

I actually can't risk driving the car for long distances atm.

Ok that might work, but I may have already over committed my time across the next few months, so I don't want to promise being able to strip the rest of the car by then. Think of me as your last resort.

However, did you have any bites when you tried selling it a year ago? Maybe spending more money on it just to try selling it again could be the wrong strategy?

Just so you know, my driveline shop here in the states rebuilt my shaft with new joints. They do exist and are a special part just for these and a few other shafts. Maybe something you can look into at a driveline shop in your area. cost me about $200 US to have all 3 joints done and the shaft balanced. The center bearing was still in great shape even 17 years old.

I got a few bites. But the offers I got were too few and too low as it wasn't registered at the time. Now it's registered, I only want to spend a couple more bucks on it to get it into as near perfect driving condition. Idea being I don't want to spend too much more money on it of course. I'll keep you in mind as a last resort.

In regards to the driveline shop, I've had it in a specialist shop in my local area and they weren't able to source anyone to be able to refurbish the drive train, as apparently the Uni-joint is an unserviceable part and the front of the drive train either needs to be chopped off at the front and replaced or I find a new drive train.

Anyone else have a donor part for me, it is literally the last part I need
