Power steering woes

Hi All,
A while back, mid-April, my friend of family garage told me that our 92 Ebony needed a steering rack, along with cam seals, valve cover seals, timing belt, spark plugs etc.
Had it all done. Leaks gone, steering seemed a bit lighter than before, lighter than the other 92 and the 97. And now it stalls sometimes.
Soon, it lost the power steering, 1 day later. No steering lamp on dash was lit.
Brought it back to garage.
2 weeks and 3 racks later!(WorldPAk rebuilts) they decided it was the power steereng pump.
After replacing the pump(With one of those great WorldPak rebuilts), the car worked good, except that light steering-(over boost condition?) made us curious...were the other two SVXs in need of power steering pump, or is something wrong with this one. I wnet to see if there were any codes in the ecu, but the power light wouldn't blink at all.

Last week, (about 1000 miles after the service)the power steering belt (new from that service, "made in mexico" probably not oem (I asked for all oem parts be used) self destructed while my daughter was driving it. Ths time the "steering" lamp, as well as alt, ABS, and several others were lit.
I replaced the belt, the car seems ok, but I can't help wondering...

Could they have broken the wires to the transducer on the rack then reversed polarity? Or something else that damaged the steering control ECU?
In spite of their awareness that the LSL uses the speed sensitive rack, and that power steering pump and rack are different because of the servo valve than the Lsi, could I still have the wrong components in there?

Is the lack of anything from the engine ECU somehow related? The car runs rough at idle sometimes and stalls, I was hoping to get codes to help figure it out.

Someone else mentioned that they too, needed a power steering pump after the new rack was installed...

Last, but not least, I now have a good ATF red leak from?? Could I have damaged the rack driving home without the power steering belt, about 7 miles?

Have you changed the PS O-Ring while doing or having all of this work done? That may be where the fluid is coming from. :)
