Great Subaru Service

I just dropped my car off at Van Bortel Subaru in Victor, NY.
They claim to be the largest dealer in the nation, and they are familiar with the SVX. Every time I've been there, I get a loaner car, since it's almost an hour away. They pull up to the door with a full tank, fully defrosted, (it's been snowin 'round here lately)
fairly new Subaru, and hand you the keys. My wife is considering a new SUV, and NOW she's considering a Forester.....anybody own one currently? How is it? Thanks, as always,
Tim

Tim,

My wife and I lve our old Outback wagon. We both have test driven the Outback VDC 6 cyl. wagon. That will be our next car.
Friends of ours who have Foresters love them.

For us the Forester is too vertical. WE need something longer & lower like the Out back.

Larry,
Imagine my surprise when they gave me a VDC Outback last time!
I agree with you on the Forester's styling, but the '03's look a little better...and with 1.9 % APR, we'll see..........imagine that, you and I agree on car styling.....!

I picked up a 2003 Forester XS two weeks ago. I opted for the standard transmission. SVX4EATFEAR I guess. Big changes interior wise over previous models. Now your drink spills on the floor rather than the CD player and Heat/AC controls.

I like it. Now maybe It will take a little longer to get my SVX up to 250,000.

Our Forester is wonderful

Tim,
We have one of the first Forester's ('98) and we love it. We've got the Subaru car top carrier to make it even taller :) and now I'm installing a DVD video system, complete with headrest monitors for the kids.

It's perfect for around town with the kids and getting food. The occasional trip back to Rochester is no problem with the large (relatively) cargo space, and it travels very well for a 7-8 hour trip.

Someday we'll replace it with a newer one, post 2003 because of the added 6inches of leg room (rear seat room is kinda tight, but fine for our 5 and 2YOs)

So far I'm loving 'my new' dealership. They are the gracious host of the NE 2nd and 3rd Annual SVX meet. My SVX is in the shop for a badly needed transfer clutch and they lent me a BAJA! Cool!

Neat vehicle. Plenty of room, drives nice, goes good, though I'm not quite sure what to make of that little box attached to the back end. Say what you want about it's styling, but at least it has some.

My dad bought a legacy there and we have all the subys in the family that still reside in NY serviced there. They have always been great to deal with. One of the few dealers I would hand my keys to and not be nervous.

Somebody should put them on the good service dept. list.

Forester etc.

A teacher friend of mine has a two year old Forester, and loves it.
Her friend loves her Legacy, like the other teacher at the high school who loves HER Legacy, which is similar to two other teachers I know who love their Impreza's and Outbacks....

....did I ever mention that Subaru is VERY popular around here?

:D Don

who loves HER Legacy

I liked the Outback that they gave me for a loaner, but it was oh so sweet to slide behind the wheel of the SVX again. I finally replaced my leaking valve cover gaskets, and got a four-wheel alignment, (remember, I replaced the struts and springs.....and mounts!) for $415: I can live with that! I also received my rims in the mail yesterday, two days after I ordered them! I can't wait to get them mounted, 'cause they look suh-weet!
