Tom cleaned up my stockers but they're foggy again, there's just no hope..

Also going to paint my front/rear windshield wiper arms. They're pretty nasty.

Looks like you've got a few nice "one day" projects. I love the AWD embelem, may I ask where it came from?

thanks ya!

Manarius 09-06-2007 05:14 PM

That AWD emblem looks just like the one on the Saturn Vue.

Ricochet 09-06-2007 05:22 PM

somebody on my local forum said the same exact thing.. I guess Dayle's been out busy at night with a razor blade

I believe it is off the vue. I posted a few months asking about it, and a few said that it was. Still, nice little projects that really go a long way as far as appearance goes.

I'm thinking about rattle-canning the waterfall grill silver. Anybody know of a good matching color brand?

huck369 09-07-2007 05:00 AM

Silver is near impossible to match...maybe just paint it black to go with the roof...

I bought the liquid silver and clear coat spray can kit from these people to paint my '97 grille. http://www.paintscratch.com/ With a fine grit wet sanding between coats it came out a 99.5% match.

Brian

I have seen quite a few painted waterfalls and I suspect they were all rattlecan jobs like you propose.

The negative thing is they tend to look like they have been painted with matt paint. I suspect this may be partly because of the surface of the waterfall [probably buffed from repeated attempts to shine up the original] plus using only spray colour and no topcoat.

Do it like Gene did his, with fine flatting down and applying topcoat. Otherwise it will look crap.

BTW, your car looks really, really good.

Why don't you just buy new wiper arms? The springs will be stronger.

Joe:)

Yes, the paint is cheaper, and so that's OK.

I'm buying the wiper arms, me. I find as the arms get old, if you are travelling through really heavy rain at speed, the blades just don't do the job right, the arms can't keep the pressure on.

So maybe at 12-15 years old they are due retirement.

No doubt this being Ireland we get more rainfall than you do over there.

Joe:)

wow I really saw the age of this car as I was taking off all the crap on the back of the headlight housing.. rubber hoses simply ripping off, clips breaking, etc.. blah! Guess my jobs just became a little lengthened.

oh and cooking them at 210 degrees to split the lenses wasn't hot enough, didn't melt the old silicone at all :(
Putting one in for round two at 240 deg
