Soarer motor blows at the track tonite
Took the Soarer to the track tonite to make a few passes
We also have Midnite Madness where its all heads up racing you pick your race, and they dont show the times at the liteboards at the end of the track Anyway, the car ran well for the most part, but lost some traction mid track, bounced off the rev limiter a bit all about the same time I was into the 75 shot. Whammo....shut down about 3/4 track with a cloud of smoke behind me and coasted thru the traps with a 13.6 and flames coming out my exhaust (probably pieces of melted pistons) existing my exhaust system. I have one vid of it, Ill try to get it up soon and let you know when I pull the motor out to see what it looks like inside. Its possible it leaned out somehow, but I havent checked the NX kit yet. Doubt it was detonation, since I was using 100+ octane gas. Either way, time for a new motor (or at least another good 1Jz) :D possibly go 2Jz this time not sure.:D |

The real question is how is Dayle handling the loss of a motor.:D
That is a major bummer. That car is way nice every which way you look at it. Keith |
hey, its a race car
I didnt expect it to last forever...
but the next motor will be more built for more boost and more nitrous. Ball bearing larger turbo may be in my future too :) It was fun while it lasted !!! |
Damn! That must have been a sightto see...
What kinda times would your Soarer turn in the 1/4 when it was running in top form? -Chike |

my buddy who took it though focused in on the timeboards at the end of the track (crappy) instead of the car (duh) as smoke was billowing from the mufflers and the car shuts off, but I still had flames coming out of the mufflers thru the traps. Its okay, already gave it crap for that. :) Its run a mid to low 12 on drag radials in full street trim at about 16psi. I bumped it up to almost 20 last nite "just for kicks" and a 75 shot out of the hole to decrease the turbo lag. New motor should put me in the 11's.....safely |
Damn! That Soarer hauls some serious butt at the track... I realize they're basically Supras in a more 'cultured' body, but that's awesome! :)
Good luck with the engine swap! -Chike |
Speaking of videos, where is the vid of my SVX BURNOUT ACTION:D:D!!! Still anxiously waiting for it to come sliding through our mail slot.lol Just kidding.

all in good time
Svx Vid wont be ready for a week or 2
Im installing the kit hopefully if I get some time after work this week. As for the Soarer, already working on Project X  Hope to have it back on the road by Oct or Nov |
It wouldn't surprise me if your svx run mid twelves on street tires with that new nitrous kit. Also you may want to check out a company called DURITE CONVERTERS they sold me a torque converter a few years back, man its lighter and gives you a higher stall speed,I still have the stock one to do bicep curls with.
|
I had a 3500 stall

6 months....it was good, but more then I wanted and went back to stock 2000 stall |
