Antenna mast: Suby or aftermarket?
Have just broken my radio antenna, Irish summer hedges.
Have done a search, and most threads say only a Subaru replacement is long enough. Is this correct? Anyone know of another or cheaper replacement? Thanks Joe:) |

It is less than $35 USD and there is a great how to at http://www.capital-internet.net/~dmo...na/antenna.htm Doug |
35?
Thanks Doug,
I printed off that how-to earlier, great job. 35 bucks is OK, the price I saw was 50 bucks, which would build up to 100 bucks for me with postage, customs VAT et cetera ad nauseam. The www just got to be an expensive place to shop over here. European protectionism at its best. Joe |
Thought...
Since shipping to Ireland would probably be pretty high, wouldn't it be do-able to buy an aftermarket mast and then extend the cable by adding wire to it? I remember Wal-Mart used to sell an antenna that was listed as fitting the SVX although we no longer sell them, so unfortunately I can not check it out for you.

Thanks Beast
I checked the Subaru.com prices, and it is listed at $38. Not too dear, even if the postage doubled it. I will do that as a default. Meantime, Paul in Japan is checking if the price is reasonable there with the weakish Yen. That would suit me better, as he can also ship me a RHD English workshop manual. Currently I have the mast unplugged at about 6". Gets reception, and if somebody breaks it, it is already broken anyway until I get the replacement, so little or no loss. Thanks for the help and advice, Joe:) |
