nikfu stealth - engine pic

here it is finally. alas i did not run the beast. the battery was dead. charging was futile due to it being -1 degrees outside. even my svx took a good ten minutes before catching and another 10 for heat.

*huff* then edgo had this dumbass idea. he thought if we pulled it and put it in gear it would engage and stuff would turn and charge stuff and make it easier. nope.
the S-10 got stuck and i ended up pushing and pulling that stealth around. i got a nice abrasion on my bumper from when i had to get that heap out of the road so people could pass.
all this while a blizzard blew snow about, blinding me.

the way home was fun. 4 inches of snow in 3 hours. 12 midnight. svx handled like a dream at speeds below 80. above that is suicidal in snow with a 50ft ceiling. it also sucks when trucks get in front and spray powder all over blinding me.
kinda scary. i kept hearing dripping water sounds. weird. the air was so clod and dense that the engine would growl at about 2100rpm instead of 3200. the trip was just like riding in a huge jet. from the uncomfortable seat to the deafening roar of wind.
want to know if you have bad bearings? drive on some powder at high speed. no more road noise. now i know mine are fine. :)

on the way out there was different. just as cold, but totally dry. very loud and powerful. extremely responsive everything. plus i saw 3 svx'i thursday. purple, teal then red.

also i just ate some pie. yummeh.
time for bed. sleeeeepy.

pushin the beast. we used a tire to buffer between them.

also the camera died after about 10 pics even though it said there was over 100 minutes of battery life. hence the crappy nighttime pics.

wawazat?? 11-28-2003 06:59 AM

Looks like a Dodge/Mitsu engine

if you ask me. Noting leads me to believe it is anything other than the stock engine.

nikfu you are correct as that is not hte stock engine. are you sure its RWD? It is still mounted transveresly. It seems to me to be another mitsu FWD motor. The mock runners are to small the be a 3k/s motor, there will be markings on the block somewhere, see what you can find. It will have an engine code.
good luck and we'll get this one figured out!

here is the stock ES 91 engine:

and here

the valve cover closely resembles that of a 3g chick..i mean Eclipse..... so i think its a later model v6, check the lineups and im sure you will find it.
Its time for me to go to work sorry i dont have anymore time to help but good luck

3g eclipse GT motor : here

That is a base model 3.0L motor (the same 3.0L that comes in Dodge Caravans) The only way that car is RWD is if someone have put in a VR4 tranny and hasn't installed the front axle shafts yet. But that is just a regular noncool 160HP. Mitsu 3.0L.

Phast SVX 11-28-2003 06:05 PM

in other wirds nikfu, somebody isntalled a 94 Basemodel stealth engien with 165hp into your 91 half r/t that should have 222hp. That wasnt smart.

Just outa curiosity Nik what made ya think it was a 4.6 when it says 3000 on the motor?

NikFu S. 11-29-2003 12:26 AM

it says 3000 on the manifold which i was told was transplanted onto the engine.
that really sucks.
if thats the case then its pushing as much power as an xt6 and ill have a better time modding the svx.

:(
major bummer.

on the bright side my friend just got a nice decked out eclipse.
thd gets stronger.

help me. explain why it is what it is.

Subafreak 11-29-2003 07:43 AM

Yes their bolth 3.0L but you looking at about a 10 year spread in design. Plus the 3.0L in your Caravan, I meen Stealth is a SOHC 12 vavle motor, the 3.0L in the Eclipes is a SOHC 24 vavle motor that is why the valve covers are different and the plugs are in a different spot.

NikFu S. 11-29-2003 02:46 PM

stock ES stealth is 24 valve

I think someone screwed up on that site, why would the base and the SL have the same motor. Anyway trust me I'v done headgaskets befor on the base Stealth motor it's the same damn thing they use in Caravans, it even uses Caravan head gaskets and has Caravan cam seal leaks and ticks an smokes like a friggen Caravan when it reaches 100K miles.
