Meh @ new camera = you get what you pay for.
Pictures in natural light-
lowest res and quality: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./39909.JPG Highest res and quality: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./39910.JPG Video- 320x240, 15fps: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nt=svxvid1.flv 640x480, 30fps: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nt=svxvid2.flv Photobucket is being a pain so I can't view the uploaded videos so I don't know how they've been altered. -- I got the camera on Ebay for cheap considering the specs and functions, but like I said, you get exactly what you pay for. http://cgi.ebay.com/12MP-DIGITAL-VID...em140054065405 Here is a listing for the same model I have. It feels cheap, it's very difficult to use, the zoom is rickety, it does not adjust to light well, there is no lens cover, the mp3 player cuts off the last few seconds of the songs, and watching the video I'm not too impressed with the recording sound quality. The warranty is $20 for some whatever years but I'd rather get something brand name when it breaks. |
probably should read "1.2MP".
12MP cameras go for a bit more than $199. |
With things like cameras, you really should try and stretch your budget... otherwise you kick yourself later and end up spending more because you upgrade. I learned the hard way :(

My friend had a camera like that...The picture quality was horrifical. But there was this little button that changed modes from like...close ups to lansdscapes, apperently as indicated by their perspective eyeball and the mountian graphic designations....
Switching it to the mountian made the pictures come out alot better. Might need to tinker with your camera a bit to get the best of it As long as it's better than budfreak's camera then your good:p |

Truth be told the only thing I got it for was videos of the car, and pics of things for the car. I'm not a real shutterbug so that's why I didn't spend too much. But, I will say I am fairly disappointed with the quality of this "$700" camera. It has bugged out and crashed on me once already. -- In any case, I can always pop in a bigger SD card and use it as and mp3 player, and it'll work as a webcam if I ever need that. :/ |
Maybe you can return it?
I was looking at the specs... the sensor is actually a 3 megapixel sensor but its 12 megaxpixel interpolated, so its just using digital zoom to enlarge the file format that big. I typically would stay with either Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Sony... You really can't go wrong staying with a known brand. |
I bought Kodi one exactly like that 2 years ago for Christmas, it was only about 100 then! I think I got it at Target. If it serves your purpose then thats great. ;) I doubt it will though, I would try to return it to her.

Get this one...
|
I gotta have the swivel screen. Gotta.
|
That sucks, at least it takes pictures though.
The only digital camera that I ever paid for, I took back. It was horrible and I felt ripped off. The several Sony and Kodaks that I have either found in cars or traded wisdom/work for all work good enough for me. Not sure if it is just because I didn't open the wallet for them or if I just choose bad cameras on my own. |
I've been messing with it more and I'm kinda warming up to it.
Still has a really crappy mic though. I recorded myself playing Gears of War. :D |

I looked quickly at the ad and saw no brand name mentioned...that should have been your first clue that it was garbage. Also the fact that real 12mp cameras sell for close to $1000 should have given you an idea you were getting ripped off.

Yeah I know........It SUCKS. I can't complain for 5 bucks though.:p |
2048x1536 = 3MP (as stated above). The first thing I do with a new camera (still or video) is make sure digital zoom is turned off.
