Parting out built motor
It's with a lot of regret that after 5 years of ownership, I've yet to drive my SVX more than 10 miles. I'm tired of paying insurance on it to sit and rot, so I'm strongly considering picking up a stock motor at the junk yard, dropping it in, and getting it finally moving (hopefully). That leaves me with what to do with the built motor.. I can go through it and work on it over the course of multiple years like I did last time I guess.. But if anyone here is interested in seeking their own turbo dreams, then maybe I can help you out instead.
I would need to go check around the garage and notes to see what all I've got for sure, but some big ones are: - Hydra EMS with wideband. Never used, though some minor tubing/pastic t connectors could be missing. - Custom made 8.5:1 forged CP pistons, from Toms old car I believe - Eagle H beam rods and ARP bolts, bought new. - The timing belt and pulleys are new - Brand new an unmodified stronger WRx engine mounts.. Its been so long I forgot what these are called. Have the used beefier Transmission mount I may or may not keep. - Water and oil pump are new - Bought new ACL bearings, dont know if those are reusable or not. I also have all the stock pistons and rods that came out of it still, and a second spare motor taken apart that has everything put the intake thats available for additional stock parts. Of course, if there is any interest for the whole car as it sits (with the 5 speed conversion kit, 05 WRX transmission, new clutch, aftermarket wheels, etc), thats something else we can discuss. If there is an interest in any of these, let me know. If I have buyers lined up I'll make some time to pull the motor out and break it down. |
Re: GI: Parting out built motor
I'm interested in your second stock engine: We desperately need a good crank!

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
I think I have a crank already out of the block somewhere. Let me look around the garage.

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
Find the Hydra pieces ;)
Might be interested in the pistons and rods. Are the pistons oversize (.020)? PM me. Bill |
Re: GI: Parting out built motor
I have all of it but that jumper harness, and at this point I'm not hopeful that I'm going to find it :\

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
I am interested in the pistons and the rods, what diameter are the pistons? Feel free to shoot me an email: mike@ moore performance parts dot com
Is the built motor complete/able to run? Would you sell that complete? |
Re: GI: Parting out built motor
Its all together in the car and hooked up and mated to a WRX 5 speed transmission if you are interested in the whole car. It starts, but dies in a matter of seconds if you dont constantly give it a bit of gas, while smoking quite a bit :\ Theres a few videos of what is doing in my built thread. The tires are terrible from being parked for like 4 years and one went flat during my last test drive so I haven't tried to drive it since, but then it seemed like it didn't want to go over 3000 rpms or so. No idea whats wrong with it.

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
Weather permitting, I'm pulling the motor on Friday since I have the day off. I might start breaking it down over the weekend if it isn't too busy.

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
I've gone through all of my PMs and searched through old threads as best I could, but I cannot find the specs on the pistons (other than the part number for the piston rings, if that will help?). I did not bore out my cylinders any bigger than stock so I would assume they are not any differently sized that stock.

Re: GI: Parting out built motor
Engine is out. I'll probably start breaking it down this week if I ever kick this cold.
I'll post pictures of everything requested. |
Re: GI: Parting out built motor
Shame you are giving up the build. My engine build is also taking forever but between busy work schedule and short attention span.. It's hard for me to stay focused when I already see the finish line.
I still need to buy a Hydra EMS so if Bill doesn't snag it, let me know what it includes. :) |

Didn't know you were looking for a Hydra! I'll gladly step aside for you. STeel25T -- please put me second in line for the Hydra. I'll still take it if Marisa changes her mind. Cheers, Bill |
Re: GI: Parting out built motor
$1500 shipped and it's yours. I got it all together and ready to go :)
I hate to give up too, but after 4+ years of lawn art I'll just settle for having a running and driving 5 speed SVX. I plan to pick up a stock engine from a local junkyard next week. In a perfect world I should just be able to bolt it in and go... We'll see. |
