what petrol do you use?

just curious as to what flavour petrol you regularly use.

reason I ask is I normally use Caltex premium [95], but last month I pulled up and the pump was down so rather than move to another I filled with 98.

I got to say the difference is amazing, I can not believe how much change it has made.

I always try to use 98 octane fuel - but I have not noticed any difference between the various brands.

I can confirm that there is a difference in using 98 vs 95 octane fuel.

Thankfully for us, the SVX uses direct-fire ignition and twin knock sensors, so that it is able to take advantage of higher-octane fuels by constantly altering the ignition timing.

I have also tried 100 octane fuel (Shell Optimax Extreme), but I could not detect any difference over 98 octane fuel.

I WISH I could find 98, or even 95 octane. I can't remember the last time I saw anything higher than 91 here, short of running on 100 octane leaded airplane fuel.:D :D

90 from Chevron. :(

I use the highest octane available - usually 91-93. Brand doesn't make a difference, it all comes from the Ashland refinery in this area.

I have found that I get the best mileage with Chevron. I have tried their fuel in my Outback as well and I always get better mileage with it. I don't run it unless it is about the same price as the other fuels. :)

I use shell V racing 100 ron 5% ethanol blend and i've noticed a big difference over 98 especially in the distance i get out of a tank which is a good thing given the fact i drive hard all the time. :D

Another vote for the Shell 100 with Ethanol...it's good.

Normaly use vortex (95-96 i think), occasionally use vortex gold (98), so is the shell 100 the new V-power stuff?

I am doing a 200Km daily comute, over a 500m mountain.... and I have found no difference between 91 and 95, other than the look on my bank managers face! I seam to get about 450Km from each, with no change in performance. The exaughst note does seam bassier with the 91 though!

i put in 98% when i can afford it.

so whats the price difference there between 98 & V100 - to be honest I have not seen it available anywhere - but then again I tend to use Caltex so it's prob out there.

to be honest i've got no idea what the price difference is, if i cared i wouldn't be driving a svx, i'm not even sure how much it, costs 60 litres is about $90 au, i think it's $1.45 per litre, What price can you put on proformance?

I've been keeping a spreadsheet... Doesn't seem to make much difference what fuel it is, only how I drive it and wether it is short or long trips.

Exactly, since the price rises I have been on 91 and notice absolutely no difference. Like you, I am a no BS Kiwi and placebo is not on my agenda. :D
